Special Friend Share Clipping Video

It shouldn’t take you longer than the first two seconds of this new tune from Special Friend to realize you’re in love with the band and their sound. That crisp jangling guitar has just enough fuzz along the edges to walk the lines between indiepop and more modern indie rock, and that’s just if you’re focusing on the guitar vibes; they even get some crunchier distortion to open up into an acoustic strum, displaying their ability to build sonic structures you won’t forget Personally, their vocal interplay adds an additional layer of perfection that I don’t think you’ll hear anywhere else today; they seem to compete against one another at times, pulling back at just the right time to let the guitars do the singing as they up more of an earnest snap to the song. Looking forward to hearing all of Clipping, which is out March 20th via Skep Wax/Howlin Banana/Hidden Bay.

Special Friend Announce Clipping

If you consider yourself a fan of great indiepop then today’s news of a new LP from Parisian popsters, Special Friend, should be a nice little treat! The duo waste no time building in infectious moments, dropping this snappy rhythm and jangling riffs instantly make your body wriggle with joy. Erica’s vocals have a punctuated delivery, while Guillaume weaves his own lines into the mix, each voice complimenting the other. They toss in a nice little fuzzy riff every now and then, as they don’t want to give your ears a cavity from too much sweetness. Clipping is now on my list of hotly anticipated records coming out this year; it drops via Skep Wax, Howlin Banana and Hidden Bay on March 20th.

The BVs Announce Taking Pictures of Taking Pictures

I’m a bit late to this one, and by that I mean that three days is entirely too late to share the joy of the new BVs track for you. We’ve always loved the group, but this new single has them taking their buoyant brand of pop to the top; I almost jumped right out of my chair and started bouncing about in my classroom. That crushing guitar line shoves you right through the door, with this faint since of longing hanging about in the tones, all of it making me feel like I’ve finally found a musical home. It’s energetic and magical and you’ll find that you can’t pull yourself away. I didn’t even realize how much the band were huge sports enthusiasts either…as you can see in this fun video! They’ll drop Taking Pictures of Taking Pictures via Shelflife and Kleine Untergrund Schallplatten on February 16th.
