Have Another School of X Tune

Earlier this summer I dropped a new single and album announcement from our friend Rasmus Littauer and his Copenhagen based musical project known as School of X. I’ve been drawn into the way Littauer can take a sort of convoluted indie pop genre and give it some darkness and slick guitar work to truly give it his own spin. His latest single, “New Friend”, can be found below and offers up more of that pop goodness paired with the slightest hint of edge and grit. It’s a truly catchy little tune.

School of X will drop new album Dancing in the Void on September 24th via Tambourhinoceros.

Bouncing New Track From School of X

Rasmus Littauer, working under the musical moniker School of X, is one hard working dude in the Copenhagen underground music scene. Last year he dropped his debut LP Armlockand also planned to impress us with his live show for SXSW, but then the world sort of stopped. School of X has continued making new music through the pandemic with yet another LP of new tunes entitled Dancing Through the Void coming on September 24th via Tambourhinoceros. Prior to the new album, we’ve been lucky enough to hear this new single “Feel of It”. It is a truly infectious piece of get up and move pop music similar to some of the earlier days of a band like Generationals or Fyfe Dangerfield. Check it out.

Communions Return With Splendor

We made a ton of posts about Danish band Communions way back in 2014-2015 and we’ve since lost touch with the band though they’ve continued to put out music over the last 4-5 years. Our lack of awareness will hopefully be forgiven as you check out this new track called “Splendour” and enjoy all the lovely components to break down. The song offers some new wave, pop elements combined with a more intimate and breathy take on things akin to say Choir of Young Believers or similar outfits. If you forgot about the band, as we unfortunately did, it’s time to start paying attention again.

This track is the first with the bands new hometown label Tambourhinoceros. More to come hopefully.

Collage Pop from The Informations

To be honest, you’re probably going love this track from the Informations. You’re going to immediately hear the anxious yelps from the vocalists and recall the glory days of bands like Suckers and Animal Collective..and those nods are fair. For me, the collage atmosphere at times overrides the central melody that courses through this entire tune. The frantic style raises the enjoyment, sure, but if you strip that away and reveal this generous guitar line that would easily make any of our days infinitely brighter. Go ahead and explore the joyousness this Copenhagen outfit have to offer you!

Amazing Indie Pop From School of X

Man it’s been a crazy day in Austin, and I’m hoping to end your day of music with us by offering up something a bit more chill and relaxed to ease you into the afternoon. Imagine that, I have this new song called “Write My Name” from Copenhagen based Rasmus Littauer and his project known as School of X. Currently working as the touring drummer for Major Lazor, one can hear a bit of electronica and beat driven pop here. I’m finding it to be quite irresistible.

School of X will release a new EP entitled Destiny on November 15th via Tambourhinoceros.

You’ll Love The Oceans

The Oceans are a duo from Copenhagen who make their very own brand of dream pop, shoegaze style music. Having just released their new EP, EP II, the band is looking to drum up some positive praise for the collection with tons of new singles. This one, called “Rewind Your Mind”, features a lot of sonic noise along with a bright guitar and some synths in the background. The brightness, paired with the heavy beat drops and sludgy bass, create an almost perfect shoegaze song. Well played gents.

If you’re liking this one, you can stream the band’s entire new EP II over on Spotify.

Enjoying Choir of Young Believers

Upload_SxSW2ndSt_2012_03_16-18_58_01Copenhagen based Choir of Young Believers is a band we consider dear to us as old friends and former SXSW showcase alums. That said, we’ve always followed the band closely since then and today I’m excited to share their new single “Perfect Estocada”. Older fans of the band will recognize the almost dreamy like pop created here with some new and creative electronic/R&B elements added to create a memorable song.

You can pick up new albumGrasque on February 19th via Ghostly International.

Great New Pop Track From Communions

front_digiCommunions is a Copenhagen based band that both Lankford and I posted about back in October of last year.  I hadn’t heard much from the band since that time so imagine my surprise and delight when the band just sent over this awesome new track “Out of My World”.  I don’t know about you guys, but I continue to dig the beautifully quirky take on pop music.

Communions finally have a new self-titled EP due out in June on Tough Love Records.

Beauty From Communions

10646748_695315667227066_7770546735906319449_nCopenhagen based Communions are wooing me today with this beautiful number called “So Long Sun”.  The track starts out with some atmosphere to ease you into things, but then builds and builds into some loud, hazy pop moments of shear beauty.  All in all, this is a track worthy of a few spins today.

This song appears on a new 7″ due out from the band on November 10th via Tough Love Records.

Wistful Pop from Cape Canaveral

I hope you’re ready for some pop that makes you long for the days of yesteryear, with warm recordings and simplicity at the helm.  Copenhagen’s Cape Canaveral are one such band that caught my attention, encouraged by their adoration of Galaxie 500.  This new gem comes from their wonderful new single on EarDrumsPop, a non-profit label trying to make the world fall in love all over again.  I really appreciate the way this song was recorded, providing listeners with a really intimate tune that begs to be on every new playlist you make your friends.  Please check out the label and the band, and donate to the cause of both!
