Villagerrr Share Burnout Video

Looking through this year, Darling Records has had some solid successes; they released the wonderful Merce Lemon LP, and now it looks like they’ve got another hit on their hands with this gem from Villagerrr. This brand new single follows up on the success of Tear Your Heart Out, and I love the way the song embraces this feeling of yearning; it feels as if it’s stretching out, emotionally, to find the listener, any listener. This correlates to some of the messaging that plays into the lyrical cycle, with lines like “reach out and touch me/someone is here.” In a world where isolation sadly pervades, find solace in this new little ditty.

Merce Lemon Shares Crow Single

If you ever just wanted to be emotionally crushed by a song, then you’re going to need to listen to the latest single from Merce Lemon; there’s this huge wall of frailty that seems to hang on every note from Merce’s mouth. Each syllable seems as if it could crumble to dust and be carried off into the wind, though they’re constantly tethered to the electrifying guitar solos that course throughout the tune. Eventually it all gets rolled into one giant ball of cacophony and beauty, swirling together like some magical cocktail that’s best drunk next to your love in a secret crypt, both of you being crushed by the sheer majesty of this single. Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild is out on Darling Records on September 27th.

Check Merce Lemon’s New Video

We’ve been on the Merce Lemon for some time now, and she’s finally getting some deserved attention, with this new single/video only reinforcing our belief in her songwriting. This new single offers the stark fragility that make, especially in the way the first three minutes are built up here. But, much like the first single from the new record, there’s this moment of noise, almost coming out of nowhere, hinting at the group sound folks will likely get when they jump in the van to tour behind Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild. Another stellar tune from the record; it drops on September 27th via Darling Records.

Merce Lemon Shares Backyard Lover Video

We’ve had Merce Lemon high on our radar for some time here at ATH, and with her most recent work, it seems like the rest of the world is catching onto that vibe too. That star’s only going to rise when folks listen to “Backyard Lovers,” the latest single from the forthcoming Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild LP. Through this song, the absolute vocal control is stunning, particularly the way the voice can rise up to match the force, yet pull it right back to suck you into the intimate experience between artists and listener. But, there’s definitely plenty of force, with Merce letting loose a powerful “you fucking liar” before lighting up the speakers with a ripping guitar solo that jams the song to a close. Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild will win you over when it drops on September 27th via Darling Records.

Merce Lemon Shares Will You Do Me a Kindness

I’ve been covering Merce Lemon for several years now, and when the band into town for “not SXSW,” they were definitely one of the top artists I had to catch live. They didn’t disappoint one bit, and now they follow that up with this enchanting ballad that might just break you. There’s this majesty in Merce’s voice, particularly as she curls some of the notes around the edges of the chorus here; I think its a hugely powerful turn of notes that stands alone in its power. Luckily, the arrangement doesn’t hurt either, with fiery solos occasionally ripping through the light strumming, blossoming into this huge feeling you won’t soon forget. This tune brought to you courtesy of Darling Records.

Premiere: Moor Hound Preps Green EP

On February 14th, many around these parts will be celebrating Valentines Day, which is all well and good, but more importantly, it’s the release date of Moor Hound‘s Green EP. On this track, as well as several others from the release, you have a stripped down affair of guitar and voice, mostly involving the concept of love, and love lost. Steve Marino is clearly working his way through something, with little baubles of memory such as the “taste of smoke on your lips,” though he admits to his former love that’s it’s “hard to see you around.” Surely you’ve been there, and in if so, you’ll connect immediately. If not, well, Marino’s heartfelt tunes are ballads for the every person, stripped to simplicity for repeated enjoyment. Have a taste below, and be sure to grab the EP from Darling Records.
