Dayflower Release Picturefall

Readers should not be surprised to see us covering another track from Leicester’s Dayflower, as the group have hit our site before…but I’m really enamored by the latest tune. Light cymbals and twisting guitars brought me into the fold, teasing me with a softer whispering vocal, all before the song really launches into a heaver brand of dreamy shoegaze. Chords bend and distortion rings out, seemingly riding out a storm of noisy atmosphere before slinking back to the more pensive center of the tune, which gets a bonus added backing vocal that really ups the ante on melody. This tune’s a journey of dreamy shoegaze, so if that’s your bag, then turn it up and enjoy.

Dayflower Share Sonic Single

Leicester’s Dayflower just dropped this shredding bit of noisy pop music, so it wouldn’t feel right not to share it with you here. The song rushes in with this pounding rhythm and a thick cloud of distorted noise ripping through your speakers. But, the clouds part, revealing that thumping bass line and some melodic vocals that wrap themselves round the angular guitar notes of the verses. It all crashes into this explosive chorus that combines the melody with maddening noise, disorienting and calming. This feels like this is where you should start your day, journeying with new Monday jams! Let’s hope there’s more where this came from!

Dayflower Release Stuck to You Single

You ever hear that shimmering guitar in all those shoegaze songs and just think…yep, this is for me? That’s really what I got when I threw on this new single from Leicester’s Dayflower; I loved how the guitar work, though beautifully shimmering, hung out really far off in the distance, allowing for the whole of the song to get swept up together. The vocals too, sort of hang back, mixing their melodies with the careful craft that surrounds them; it’s like the perfect dream pop soup, all the notes hitting just the right way to balance out every single listen…which if you love this style…you’ll get plenty of listens today!

Dayflower Announce New 7″

I’m an avid Cloudberry Records follower, so it’s nice to see the label pick up a band I’ve already been in love with, Dayflower. The label just announced this new 7″, which includes a different version of 2017 standout “Sweet Georgia Gazes,” as well as the B-side “Daisy Age.” This revisited version below might be the first time some of you hear it, but for those familiar with the band, this run has more of a punch to it than the previous version. That said, even with the energy uptick, it doesn’t lose its charm, particularly when the chorus comes in to twirl you about in its arms. The 7″ should be out later this Fall.

Brand New Old Music from Dayflower

dayflowerOne of our favorite discoveries this year has been Dayflower, and they just sent us a note that they had unleashed a brand new song recorded a bit ago…just now seeing the light of day. This one is heavy on the samples, but the washing of guitars for texture is what grabbed me. I love the way it allows the vocals to sort of playfully move in and out of the song; it sort of reminds me of a more electronic take on what Deerhunter‘s been doing…or maybe even Radio Dept. Regardless, this project always brings us great hits, and here’s yet another one.

Brand New Dream Pop from Dayflower

dayflowerA few weeks back we brought you new music we’d been turned onto from Dayflower, and the band are right back at it with another glorious number that was just released by EDILS Records. The guitars open with a fuzz chug draping over the relaxed vocal performance. I like the chorus, as it switches the tone just a wee bit, providing more of a drifting note of pop sensibility. This might be just what the doctor ordered on a Monday morning, so enjoy another remarkable tune from the Leicester bunch.

Gone Gazin’ with Dayflower

dayflowerI got turned onto this yesterday, and I think it’s about time you get to hear some of the new music coming from Leicester’s Dayflower. They’ve got a heavy buzzsaw influenced shoegaze sound, although, like the best, they drench it in pop sensibility. Sure, it sounds like PoBPaH just a touch, but remember when you really loved that band? I think those of you fawning for C86 days, or just a great song will find yourselves enjoying this track. Embrace the melody, embrace the wall of noise…and let it carry your mind off.
