Dress Warm Release Divine Single

First things first, the single is titled “Divine,” though I’ll admit that the performance is also similarly divine, in its own manner. We’ve covered Dress Warm for some time, trying to get the Austin bunch on your radar, and now that they’ve got a debut planned, we’ve got the album’s first single to share with you. Brandon Price seems to be the main player in the track’s first half, letting the gentleness of his voice work atop the light strums of guitar work; it’s a living room performance, the sort that brings you in with its natural intimacy. They work the song into a lather, letting it build up with this stomping tension before washing it clean by letting the full band sound sweep in and layer the track in emphatic texture. Their debut album, If I Could I’d Take You There is out on August 22nd.

Cats of Transnistria Announce Debut Album

catsCats of Transnistria have appeared on our pages before, but I don’t think they’ve made quite the impression as this brand new single should make on your ears. It’s a slow moving piece, unfolding with quiet guitar notes beneath an incredible atmospheric background. Vocals don’t even enter the picture until 2.5 minutes into the track, effortlessly sitting atop the musical mix. As the song continues, you’re likely to be immersed as the volume of the guitars rings louder, building a huge sonic wall; it’s pretty perfect. This comes as an announcement to the band’s new debut, Divine, which will be released by Soliti on March 18th.

Jam This Cover From Those Darlins

11049118_10153029290821059_6263931789832497561_nA bit of sad news comes with this post, but not to worry, there’s a good track at the bottom to ease the pain. Those Darlins, of Nashville, have announced an “indefinite hiatus” and a final round of tour dates for their current send out of the musical world for now. While this is a bummer, with this announcement they’ve released a cover of “Female Trouble” by Divine. It’s a sultry take on a classic song, with grooving bass lines more present in their rendition and a bit of snarl in the guitars. Take a listen below and simultaneously find solace and sorrow in light of the band’s announcement.
