Nice Pop Number From Little Coyote

Ah yes, we have finally made it to the middle of the week and the weekend is in sight. Helping us celebrate our hump day today is Toronto based Little Coyote and their promising new track “Medicine”. When I first heard the song, I was immediately attracted to the driving, almost yearning sound of the song. It has this weird sense of urgency building throughout while still showing a calm and tight production effort.

Little Coyote will release The Trouble With Teeth on October 13th. Pre-order that shiz now.

Another Gem From Minor Poet

Way back in March I was very excited to discover new Richmond based artist Andrew Carter and his project known as Minor Poet. Well as promised back then, I’d be sharing more new music as it came my way. Today we’ve got this great new track called “Judith Beheading Holofernes” for your eagerly awaiting ears. Once again we are treated to a beautiful, lo-fi pop number worthy of multiple spins.

A self-titled debut album will be coming from Minor Poet on August 25th via Egghunt Records.

You Should Check Out Big Baby

Right around this time last year I shared some news about indie pop masters Young Scum from Richmond, VA. Since then, I’ve heard very little from the band, and assumed maybe they had called it quits. As it turns out, not to be so, as the guys reformed under the new name Big Baby. Their new project already has an albums worth of material and they sent me over an exclusive preview via recently released single “Not That”. Once again we are treated to some of the most delightful and memorable indie pop currently being released. If you dig it, new album Sour Patch is currently available on their bandcamp page.

Anthemic Rocker From Avers

unnamed (2)Richmond based rock band Avers caught my ear last month and I’ve been jamming their tunes since then. Today I have for you what might be my favorite song of the band yet with this new single “Insects”. Upon initial listening, I was reminded heavily of indie rockers like Nada Surf. It meanders a bit at first and slowly builds into a truly powerful and anthemic song.

Omega/Whatever is due out July 29th via EggHunt Records.

Straight Rock From Avers

unnamed (2)Richmond based rockers Avers have dropped a few singles recently, but none as high in quality as this new one “Santa Anna”. For starters, I told you guys yesterday that I’d be filling your summer playlist this week and here’s yet another one to add to the list. This one is a summer driving rock n roll song reminiscent of lo-fi indie rock bands like Warm Soda. I just added it to my summer playlist and I recommend you do the same.

Avers will drop Omega/Whatever on July 29th via Egghunt Records.

Fun Pop From Manatree

manatreeIt’s a beautiful Monday here in Austin so why not move along with your day by jamming some bright and fun indie pop music?  This one called “Something” by Richmond based group Manatree is exactly what I had in mind.  This is easy to listen to pop music that’s sure to make your drab Monday a little better.

Manatree have their self-titled album coming out on July 31st via EggHunt Records.
