I’m keeping the rock n roll feeling going today with this new track called “City Creatures” from Chicago based outfit Absolutely Not. It reminds be a bit of Death From Above if they picked up some more pop-rock feelings like Eagles of Death Metal. Be prepared, because once you hit play, the song takes off and doesn’t look back. Turn up the volume.
Absolutely Not will release new album Errors on July 29th via No Trend Records.

Our adventures on the night of November 13th ended over at Red 7, catching some of our favorite Scots, Errors and Twilight Sad. It was vastly different from the earlier pop moments over at Mohawk with Jens, but welcomed nonetheless.
Read on for thoughts and photos.
Our friends have been gracious to provide us with a pair of tickets to one lucky winner for an incredible show going down next Tuesday at Red 7: The Twilight Sad. I’m excited by this show for more than one reason: 1) I met our photographer Brian at a T. Sad who years ago, so it’s our anniversary 2) the band is one of the most captivating live bands I’ve caught in years. They stop in town behind the release of their latest, No One Can Ever Know, but there’s more reasons to want to win these tickets! Opening will be Austin’s The Calm Blue Sea and Errors, so you’ve got three incredible bands ready to blow you away. Now, how do you win? Simple, leave a comment with your favorite European band, and I’ll pick a winner. The contest will end on Monday at 5 PM.

You may have noticed that I am randomly sharing songs. This one by Errors was added to my playlist of tunes that are regularly cranked at the Gray Manor a couple weeks ago.
This gem, “Pleasure Palaces”, is from Have Some Faith In Magic with a mini-LP called New Relics landing in mid-October. They’re opening set for Mogwai was excellent. Currently on the road in the UK, Errors will play Red7 11/13 opening for The Twilight Sad and I will be there.
Check their latest track called “Relic” here.

Mogwai have been making a name for themselve for years, brandishing noisy post-rock in the live setting, pushing your eardrums to their limit. They returned to Austin on a breezy Monday night, bringing their fellow Scots, Errors, along for the ride. Read more

If you’re looking for an incredible show to kickstart next week, then you should definitely make your way to Frontgate and get your hands on Mogwai tickets. The Scottish band is perhaps one of the best known post-rock instrumenalist groups, and they’ve just recently released Hardcore Will Never Die But You Will, which has actually grown a lot on me since I first reviewed it. I’ve seen the band several times, and always find myself encapsulated in walls of sound, music that borders the fine line between beauty and sheer noise. You’ll also be fortunate enough to catch opening act Errors, who are supporting the group on their current tour. If your lucky enough to catch a cool breeze, this could make for one of the best nights of your life.
