Feeling Figures Celebrate East Coast Jaunt with New Video!!!

Nearly two months ago, Canadian outfit Feeling Figures dropped the super Everything Around You LP into our laps; it was filled with a refreshing brand of indie rock that managed to incorporate old and new sounds all simultaneously. This week, the band are coming from the Great North to play some shows in Philly (11.14), NYC (11.15), Boston (11.16), and New Haven (11.17). Despite being bummed they’re New York trip was a week after my own, I love that they’ve got a great video from the title track. When you press play, the song sort of noodles; it’s playing in a familiar sort of post-Sonic Youth territory, indicating it’s just the band locking into their own internal sound. Just before the minute mark hits, the pop rolls in, coming across like a slight more dissonant Broadcast; I absolutely adore this track! If you haven’t picked up a copy, it’s available now through K/Perennial.

Feeling Figures Drop Co-Operator Single

At the risk of sounding like a complete asshole, I think Feeling Figures might be kicking out a brand of rock n’ roll that’s an absolute rarity, making them one of the biggest threats to the needle on your record player. Honestly, they completely fooled me here on their latest single, the opening track from Everything Around You. It opens with this sort of playful anti-folk, bending meandering guitar lines around one another; I was on board, regardless, but then the drums kick off, and the guitar lines take on a bit more presence, setting up this kick ass vocal that’s part croon and part growl. Crunching in for a brief moment, they blast you with pure aggression, only to pull it back a bit, like leading the listener with a carrot on a string. Some joyous backing vocals call in to join up, and the song just plunges into these depths of the best indie sounds you’ll hear this year. This record is so good, you’ll probably need two copies for when one wears out; Everything Around You drops on September 27th via K/Perennial Records.

Feeling Figures Drop Doors Wide Open

After last year’s Migration Magic, you can say that expectations are extremely high over at the ATH offices for this forthcoming LP from Feeling Figures. This new single definitely ramps up the energy, delivering an exciting bit of ramshackle pop, packed with as much as one band can cram into 1:43. Kay’s vocals just rip through the song, working with a bit of sharp playfulness, which delivers a bounce that snaps in step with joyous rhythmic push. Then as the song feels settled they cut right through with this little soloing guitar wiggle that just crushes your soul and makes you sink right into the glory of this pop number. Everything Around You is out on September 27th via K Records/Perennial Death.

Feeling Figures Announces New Album

If you were living under a rock, or not reading ATH, you might have unfortunately missed Feeling Figures marvelous Migration Magic LP (we tried to warn you!). But, you can do yourself an immediate favor and enjoy the Montreal outfits newest single from their sophomore LP, Everything Around You. Their ability to allow their influences to cohabitate within the confines of one track is what puts them on the pedestal, waiting to be knocked off by challengers; this tune has this bewitching pop brood to it, smashed against a wall of distortion and devil-may-care rock n’ roll moments. I loved when the 46 second mark hits and there’s this distortion wall, punctuated by joint vocal harmonies that illustrate the band’s ability to control every nuance in their craft. Everything Around You is a must have; it drops on September 27th via K Records/Perennial Death.
