Brand New Gorgeous Bully Track

vinylObviously I’ve had a thing for Gorgeous Bully for the last few years, so I was excited to learn they were readying a split for Art is Hard Records. I feel like this takes on a slight twist in the band’s sound, which is definitely allowed for someone who seems to write non-stop. Still, lurking beneath the foggy vocals is an ode to pop music and melody, whilst the guitars churn and the percussion crashes around. They’ll be splitting this release with Something Anorak, which comes out on a limited cherry-red 7″ on May 27th.

Another Day Another Gorgeous Bully Tune

gogeWhile I don’t want to post the same old same old from the blogosphere, I will willingly post the same old same old from bands I love. Gorgeous Bully, in case you haven’t noticed, have been on my list of great jams for some time. This time it’s a pretty straight forward jam, lamenting the fact that our singer doesn’t have much to do…and you know, maybe that’s good because it helps write more tracks that I can’t ever seem to get enough of this work. Might not even be released anywhere other than right here…so enjoy.

Gorgeous Bully Quietly Winning Us Over

gogeI don’t really know what it is about Gorgeous Bully, but it seems like every track they bring to the table is something I can’t put down, can’t stop playing. Here, they’ve released a new track, which is still in “demo” form, but while that comes with a certain simplicity, you can still hear the skeleton of the emotional pull. You’ve got to put together something special when you’re just offering vocals and strummed guitar. If you can, go to the band’s Soundcloud and just press play; you’ll be glad you did. I’ll keep you posted as they make more new songs…and hopefully a new LP.

Fresh New Gorgeous Bully Track

intransitI’ve written about Manchester’s Gorgeous Bully before, but I’m back to prepare you to fall in love with the band today. I think their latest single is probably the most simplistic, yet ambitious piece, yet. It’s been really hard for me to pull myself away from this track; it’s either the gentle strumming or the backing of the vocals reaching near angelic heights. For some this will be their first experience with the band, but for others, just another reason to fall for a great act. This song appears on the forthcoming In Transit Records Transmission Vol. 1 Compilation.

Are You Listening to Gorgeous Bully?

11073436_867749073263478_1577676898116032283_oIt wasn’t long ago that I was raving about the latest from Gorgeous Bully, and here I am again begging you to go back and listen to the Manchester act.  This new tune went up yesterday, and it’s got a different feel than some of the latest work, though the lineage is still evident.  Vocally, there’s still that drawn out touch to it, but the rest of the track almost has a psychedelic Brit-pop feel, which wouldn’t offend me in the least. Not sure exactly where this fits in the release schedule since the artwork being used is from the last album, Dumb Ideals (if you don’t have it, what are you waiting for?), but when I know, I promise to fill you in.

Download This Gorgeous Bully Tune

11073436_867749073263478_1577676898116032283_oA few years ago I caught wind of Gorgeous Bully, a little Manchester act specializing in hook-laden pop tunes.  I had completely forgotten about them until the wonders of iTunes random shuffle put them back on my radar.  I hustled to their page and found that the band has recently released a new tune as part of the If There’s Hell Below Compilation; it came out right after they released their new LP, Dumb Ideals.  It’s precisely the sort of tune that begs you to play it again, using simple percussion and a big vocal grab to pull you into the song’s magical powers. It’s a pretty chilled out approach, but those of you in the vein of delicious pop music will want to jump on this download immediately.

Art Is Hard Announce Gorgeous Bully EP

artworks-000062786249-84xil3-t500x500I always keep an eye on what’s going on with Art Is Hard Records; they’re a small time label doing some interesting releases on a small, but exceptional scale.  They just recently announced that they’ll be putting out the new Nobody Hates You as Much as You Hate Yourself  EP by Gorgeous Bully, and the lead track is absolutely something you need to hear.  It’s infectious as any piece of garage-pop I’ve heard this year, but it still has enough of a ramshackle punch to make it more than just a mediocre piece of pop music.  It’s going to come out on a limited cassette, and if I’m guessing right, they’ll go pretty quick, so get at it!
