Rarest of Them All Party @ The Long Center – 6/3

gruposBefore you decide to hit up Passion Pit at Emos on June 3rd, you might want to stroll on over to the Long Center where Austin’s Rare Magazine will be hosting a little gathering of local rareties, and what could be more rare than great music here in Austin? Aside from local food vendors handing out booze and food for free, you can catch tunes from great Austin bands such as Grupo Fantasma, Harlem and White Denim. You can snag yourself a pair of tickets for this evening by heading here.

Los Bad Apples

Part three of our build up to Xemumba Festival features local Austin band Los Bad Apples.  Los Bad Apples plays a high-energy fusion of Hip Hop with Reggaeton, Cumbia, Flamenco, Samba & Salsa.  Band members include the sweet songstress, Anita Benner, critically acclaimed MC Zeale who was a finalist in the World Rap Championships of 2007, as well as former members of Kumbia Kings, Menudo & Grupo Fantasma. Los Bad Apples will take stage on the Friday evening of Xemumba.  Don’t forget to read our original post on Xemumba or check out a few Los Bad Apples songs from the band’s myspace page.

Mariachi Revolución

This week we spotlight Austin band Mariachi Revolución as part of our Xemumba festival features. Mariachi is another Xemumba alum performing on both nights of the latin music festival. The band specializes in collaborations with acts like Grupo Fantasma and Ocote Soul Sounds. Have a listen to the song “Levantate” below featuring the sure to be crowd favorite Mariachi Revolución.
