If you’re a frequent reader of this here website, you know that I have been a huge fan of Paul Murphy and his musical project known as POSTDATA. He released one of my favorite albums of 2021 featuring hit single “Inside Out” while continuing to be busy this year with two straight jams over the last few months. Before he releases new album Run Wild on September 22nd, we’ve got the title track for you today to add to Murphy’s growing catalogue of hits. And for a special touch, Paul was kind enough to give us a quick Q/A about the new song and album. You can scope that along with the new song after the jump.

Introducing: The Drug Rugs

The Drug Rugs are a five piece, jangly indie rock band hailing from Halifax north of the border. Though the band is young and new to the scene, you’ll immediately notice an incredibly grown up and mature sound. Take for example this new single “Sandbar”. It manages to blend elements of driving rock like Springsteen with more modern sounds of shoegaze and pop music. It’s a beautifully constructed track.

The Drug Rugs are currently hard at work on their debut EP with a potential release date in the fall.

Powerful Shoegaze From Kestrels

Sometimes when a song hits you at a certain time, you find yourself saying “hell yeah” in your head and jamming right along with the track. I’m finding that mood today with this new track “No Alternative” from Halifax based pop group Kestrels. This is some parts shoegaze, some parts noise pop, and even a little bit of retro rock music similar to Dinosaur Jr. Hit play and maybe you’ll get the same feeling.

Kestrels will release their self-titled debut album on September 30th via Sonic Unyon Records.

SXSW Interviews: Nap Eyes

Pop Gem From Monomyth

Sometimes when you hear a great pop song, your ears perk up and you’ve just got to share it with the public. This sweet lil’ number comes from Halifax based Monomyth and is called “Something Else”. I find myself enjoying the breezy, pop feel to this one. Who can resist such temptation?

New album, Saturnalia Regalia, is due out on July 22nd via Mint Records.
