Fuzzy New Number from Heart Beach

It’s been a few years since Heart Beach dropped an LP, but while there’s no official announcement, the group have been hinting at something with a slew of singles in 2020, like the new one below. This new track was written while the core songwriting partnership of Claire and Jonathon McCarthy were struggling whilst living in Montreal, before moving back to Australia. You can hear some of the struggle in the lyrical content like “check the map because you don’t know where you’re going,” which in the context can work on multiple levels. I just love the interplay between the McCarthy’s, not to mention those fuzzy distorted edges swirling about the track. We’ll keep you posted if we hear news of a new record.

Bouncy Pop from Heart Beach

I was seduced by this new Heart Beach track immediately; the dual vocal playfulness, delivered to craft a moderate little harmony atop light guitar notes is a perfect ploy. Then suddenly the distortion jumps in and jagged chords start to rip through the speakers like some college rock act from the mid 90s. Still, the team of Claire and Jonathon McCarthy sound settled as the notes circle their heads like hawks hunting prey; that sense of calm helps fashion the perfect pop sensibility that lets you sink your teeth deep into the meat of the song. Let’s hope 2020 brings us more from this outfit!

New Music From Heart Beach

Aussie based band Heart Beach have picked up lots of love on ATH over the years. Nathan and I have both proclaimed them as one of our favorite Australian acts from the last few years. Well today the band sent over not one, but two new singles for us to check out! Both tracks offer the same guitar driven pop music with powerful vocals and perfect timing from the rhythm section. Both songs appear on a new album entitled Haircut due out on November 1st. Enjoy.

Heart Beach LP Kiss Your Face July2016 PRINT READYIn case you haven’t heard of Heart Beach, they’re probably one of the great Oceanic exports…not from Sydney or Melbourne…they’re from Tasmania. They’ve slowly begun to unleash a few tracks from their forthcoming record, Kiss Your Face, and I think you deserve to spend a little bit of time with the group today. They trade male/female vocals throughout many of the album’s tracks, and ultimately leave you thirsting for more tunes. One of the tracks below popped up on a 7″ in March, but there’s a brand new one here to get you in the mood. Look for the LP to hit on November 11th via Spunk Records.

Heart Beach

tumblr_njjyzkZXey1tq4r3mo1_500I just heard about Australian based indie band Heart Beach today and I’m already stricken with their music.  This song, “Away”, is what started it all for me and I’m hoping you feel the same way when you hit play.  It’s a song that is seemingly always waiting for the beat to drop, it never really does, and I find myself loving every second of that.  Loving the guitar sounds created here too.  Check out more of their tuneage over on bandcamp.

Heart Beach have their debut LP coming out on March 20th this year.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/185477389″ params=”color=ff9900&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
