RayRay turned me onto Tearing Up late last year, and now that they’ve released Heavy, I can’t stop listening to this track. In a lot of ways, the Ontario outfit seem to be channeling the likes of acts like Rolling Blackout Coastal Fever; they craft these angular rockers that are emphatic and angular throughout, so you’ve got to be sure that the volume is up appropriately loud enough. Plus, at times, those notes are nice and dreamy, which works well behind the exuberant vocal delivery coming your way. If you’re into what you’re hearing, be sure you’re checking out the whole of their new LP!
Ontario based musician Graham Caldwell has really been wowing me with his new music coming out this year under the recording moniker Tearing Up. Already he’s shared the drum heavy, noise rock track called “Your Flame” and today we’ve got another new single “Said Something” for you to take into the weekend. I absolutely love the frantic nature of this song, which can often be messy or sloppy, but this one is frantic and full of energy while also keeping everything incredibly tight and enjoyable. December is off to a solid start with tunes like this one.
Tearing Up’s debut LP entitled Heavy is due out on January 23rd. Pre-save it now.
If you’re looking for something to really get yourself moving and rocking on a Thursday mid-morning, then look no further this new tune called “Your Flame” from Tearing Up. The project is mostly a solo piece of work coming from Toronto based musician and songwriter Graham Caldwell. He makes his very own brand of psych inspired, shoegaze meets noise, indie rock n roll tunes. Superb sound and tons of driving energy.
Tearing Up will release a debut LP on January 27th entitled Heavy.
Oakland based outfit TONER is a band picking up some praise recently from both us and others in the music blogging world. Their heavier take on the shoegaze movement has been both refreshing and unique in a genre that can sometimes get watered down. Today the band have this new, short track called “Smoov” to add to their building repertoire of impressive songs. It’s a quick one at only 1.5 minutes, but it will offer you a short taste of the engaging sounds this band is making.
Go ahead and name me another band you know from the port Polish town of Gdansk. You can’t? That’s what I thought. Well Gdansk based Trupa Trupa are here to put their town on the map with some solid, and heavy music. Latest single, “To Me”, starts a bit slow, but eventually erupts about a minute in with some of the crunchiest bass lines I’ve ever heard. Bright guitars and somewhat hushed vocals play off the heaviness from the bass to create a powerful track. Check it out below.
I’m fairly certain that this single called “We’re So Close” from Los Angeles based MOON came out quite a long time ago, but it’s never been posted on ATH and it needs to be recorded that we approve. From the first time hitting play, you’ll realize you are in for a banger of a track. It hits pretty hard when transitioning from the softer verses into the rocking chorus complete with power chording guitars and rising vocals. Coming soon to a festival in your town!

Often times the synth pop genre is left for other members of the ATH staff, but today I’ve taken a liking to this new single from Joshua Tree based Chelan. “Wont Break” is a heavy synth song which manages to blend the best parts of Beach House with the heavier electronic sounds of Cold Cave. I promise you will find tons to like about this new single and I suggest you check it out.
Vultures will hit streets on August 26th.
