Indiepop Delight from The Golden Eaves

goldenI claim no discovery points on these tunes from The Golden Eaves, as it was pointed in my direction by one of the many purveyors of great indiepop. But, I’m so glad I came across it today; it fits perfect with the foggy morning that’s rolled into Texas. It’s all about melody with this German act, allowing for the understated vocal tones to shine and mesh with the seemingly Western guitar sounds. I’m not going to lie, but there’s an awful lot of Belle and Sebastian allusions in here, especially with the way the lyrics were written…and that’s never a bad thing in my book. Look for the No Other 7″ now!

Fresh Flowers Track

flowThe indie world swoons when Flowers come into play; they’ve been crafting the dreamier side of indiepop for some time, and we here at ATH eagerly await their brand new release. This song is probably one of the finer pieces they’ve done. I think the recording is done perfectly, in every facet. Their new record is titled Everybody’s Dying to Meet You, and it’s being released by Kanine in the US (Fortuna Pop in UK). While you’re listening to this song, try to think of something else that sounds this damn good; I bet you cant!

Fresh Indiepop from Tangible Excitement!

erThree names. Scott Stevens, Mark Monnone and Stewart Anderson. Those of you who are indiepop/power pop fans are surely swooning, even at the thought of these three getting together. Well, you’re in luck because this new super group, Tangible Excitement has written some great songs for a split mini-LP with the Ginnels (who I’ve included track of as well because I love them). My only complaint on this piece is that it’s too short. It’s like a teaser, leaving me clamoring for more and more. Luckily, Emotional Response will be releasing it on February 5th…so not too far away!

On the Ginnels track, this tune I included from their Mountbatten Class because it’s being re-issued by ER, and it’s absolutely one of my favorite songs from the band. You should buy this too!

Fresh Pop from The Chandler Estate

chandlerThere’s definitely worse ways to kick on in the New Year than with some superb indiepop, and of course, it’s being brought to us by Jigsaw Records. Of course, The Chandler Estate has some other heavy-hitters from the indiepop scene included in the band, but I don’t want to steal away from your research, so lets focus on the song. The slight jangle and twinkle in the guitars brightens the track, though I’ll say the vocals almost lend more towards a dream pop feel…none of that being bad. The band’s Infrastructure EP comes at the end of January, so prepare yourself.

Free Music from Palms on Fire

1501060_787234427980208_1557624226325387883_oWell, we’re only a few days away from that whole 2016 thing, and it’s already looking promising for those on the hunt for great indiepop…namely these two new track from Palms on Fire. Right now, Shelflife is offering the tunes for free on their site, just as a hint as to what you can expect from the band’s new record coming out at the end of January. It’s got that rolling indiepop feel, with just a touch of jangling, a traveling drum beat and a really pleasant female vocal. Just another one of those songs that makes you feel good about being you and about being a fan of music. Enjoy.

The Best in Indiepop of 2015

indiepopTons of genres out there, but if you’ve been following our work, you know that I’m really partial to the indiepop scene. I scour the confines of the Internet for any and the best of the genre, and admittedly get tons of tips. So, I looked back through what had come out and wanted to throw a little bit your way…just another list of what I think was the best in indiepop in 2015. Still staying away from numbering. Also…some of this has made my other lists, but I wanted to expand on my favorite genre a little bit. Read more

Indiepop Joy from The Keep Left Signs

11393329_10153538320074014_8047800131827082902_oWe still don’t know too much about the Keep Left Signs, but I won’t deny that every note we’ve heard from them has us rather excited, or at least me. I got pointed in the direction of new songs just yesterday, and it appears these guys are near readying an album or an EP. They tossed up a few new tracks, and man, can I have these already? One of the tracks I have is a slower indiepop jam, while the other has a little bit more pacing behind it. Regardless, I’m dying to know more about these guys…as well as a future release. I’ll give you more as I get more.

Enjoying This New Arctic Flow

arcticflowDid someone say synth-driven indiepop? I think you did, and I think you were talking about The Arctic Flow. Honestly, this song reminds me a lot of local indiepop purveyors, Rose Selavy (who just released a 7″ with us!). It’s got a nice wash of electronics building up a swell of sound behind the gentle vocals. Guitars stab in and out, occasionally taking on a gazing approach. You’ll hear more like-minded sounds on the Luminous Veil EP, which is slated for a December 14th release on 10″ vinyl. You have exactly a month to fall in love!

Why Not Another Tune from The Hermit Crabs

hermitJust last week we brought you the first single from The Hermit Crabs in regards to their newest mini-LP, In My Flat. And, seeing as I’m never one to shy away from posting great pop music, I had to post the second single merely a week later. This song comes across as the most-understated bit of pop you might hear this year. Guitars are fairly quiet and the emphasis comes via slight backing vocal appearances. As far as subject matter goes, I think we can all agree that we’ve been there, only endearing this song to listeners far and wide. Be sure to grab the new album from Matinee Recordings next week.

Fresh Bit of Pop from Postal Blue

postalblueWe had a Postal Blue track a few weeks ago, and we’re really excited to share this new number with you today. There’s angular guitars circling around the voice of Adriano, which as always, is quite spectacular. A slight change of pace between verse and chorus occurs, captivating the listener, turning the tune into something memorable. I couldn’t stop playing this song all morning long, and am even more excited for the new release, Of Love & Other Affections, which is coming out courtesy of Jigsaw Records on November 20th. Stream this single, dream big things and have a great day.
