Fresh Bit of Pop from Postal Blue

postalblueWe had a Postal Blue track a few weeks ago, and we’re really excited to share this new number with you today. There’s angular guitars circling around the voice of Adriano, which as always, is quite spectacular. A slight change of pace between verse and chorus occurs, captivating the listener, turning the tune into something memorable. I couldn’t stop playing this song all morning long, and am even more excited for the new release, Of Love & Other Affections, which is coming out courtesy of Jigsaw Records on November 20th. Stream this single, dream big things and have a great day.

Strawberry Whiplash Makes Glorious Return

strawDammit! Matinee Recordings is on a roll this week; they had Hermit Crabs news and now Strawberry Whiplash, featuring one of my favorite songwriters Laz. When I talked to him earlier this week about the new album, he told me that their new album “is more produced sounding than the previous one,” which should bode well for those clamoring for the best indiepop around. The new record is titled Stuck in the Never Ending Now, and you’ll be able to grab it on November 18th, just in time to make my own personal year end. This single sparkles and shines, and makes me long for the perfect song on the perfect day. That’ll do pig, that’ll do.

Fresh Indiepop from The Hermit Crabs

hermitFigured as the weather was getting a little dreary here in Austin, it’s best that I turn that attitude around with something cheery…at least musically speaking. This song is a brand new number from the Hermit Crabs, who’ve quietly announced the release of a new album titled In My Flat. It’s got everything one needs from the perfect indiepop track: bouncing rhythm, jangling guitars and charming vocals. I think those of you looking to be charmed will find your happy place hiding here in this track. You can grab the album from Matinee Recordings on November 19th.

New Indiepop from Postal Blue Track

11950409_10153316561218409_2287393894174405588_oYou’re best served by having friends on the Internet that have great tastes, that way they can share with you, like the news I caught the other day about new music from Postal Blue. The Brazilian project hits it out of the park with this steady indiepop gem, forcing warm vocals through the speakers with a  jangling guitar keeping things steady. It still amazes me sometimes how individuals can craft such beautiful pop music all on their own, creating such timeless songs…so hats off to Adriano here. Look for his album, Of Love and Other Affections, in early November from Jigsaw Records.

Stream the Expert Alterations LP

expurtIt’s the end of the day and I wanted to toss out something your way that’s been an absolute treat: it’s the latest album from Expert Alterations. I had high expectations after catching them live, then those raised when they re-released their EP via Slumberland (a name you can trust). We’re now in the release week of You Can’t Always Be Liked, but if every person had a love for indiepop, then you can be assured that these guys would definitely be liked by all. Just enjoy a stream on this Monday as you’re wrapping up your day, and grab the LP from Kanine on Friday.

File Under Indiepop: The Keep Left Signs

11393329_10153538320074014_8047800131827082902_oThis week’s been really slow musically, and I can expect with CMJ that next week will be much the same. So, with that, I’ve done some hard core browsing of the net. It gets boring posting the same thing as P4K which is the same thing as Stereogum…it’s an endless cycle of been there done that. Luckily, I stumbled across this great band that I know nothing about, The Keep Left Signs. In fact, there’s little to no information on the group, other than the demo tracks below…and a poster with their name on it that also features FireworksThe Garlands and The Electric Pop Group. Those names and these songs have me convinced. You?

Hot New Single from Expert Alterations

expertIf you haven’t completely given into the world of indiepop, then perhaps this new single from Expert Alterations will be the one to get you there. Their new album You Can’t Always Be Liked is definitely in my list of must listens for the entirety of 2015, and the spirit in this song should be enough to make you see why. There’s a rolling rhythm section that builds the energy from the get-go, pushing the song forward as the guitars chime in and out. There’s almost a stutter to the way the vocals are delivered, which has a huge impact on the listener. You can grab this great LP from Kanine on October 30th.

Don’t Cry Shopgirl Have a New 7″

11188248_630700463730740_2341388002965267490_nThis is not a Tom Hanks referencing post (wait, too late). Instead, it’s meant to reflect the exciting news coming out of Sweden this week that there will be a new 7″ from Don’t Cry Shopgirl. The song opens as a pretty synth-driven testament, with layered electronic stabs bursting in at varying times. Still, you can hear the angular guitar work that’s popularized in the genre, which never fails to win me over. Luckily, the 7″ looks to be an EP, as there are 4 songs listed; it’ll come out soon via the dependable Cloudberry Records…I’ll keep you posted on the date.

The Radio Dept. Drop Indiepop Hit

radiodept-repeatedsodomy-560x560Interestingly, the Radio Dept have been rather active, with all signs pointing towards a new release earlier next year. That being said, they’ve dropped a brand new track that won’t appear, yet deserves your attention. It still holds true to some of the group’s trademark sounds, but if you’re asking me, this is their take on an indiepop gem. Subject matter might be a bit grim, but that sets it perfectly against the lighthearted tune the band have left you with. Really, I wish these guys wrote more stuff, indiepop or not, political or not, it’s always great.

A New Tune from A Novel Resort

anovelresortThis track’s been quickly making its way around the indiepop circles, seeing as it features M from Northern Portrait, one of the genre’s revered current acts. It’s an interesting song from A Novel Resort, wrapping electronics around the stereotypical sound…filling in the gaps with strings and horns. Quite a special moment, though we’re still waiting to hear whether an album will be in the works from the group (rumor says Dufflecoat might make a grab!). Anyways, a pretty good song for you to enjoy while you’re sitting at your desk.
