Blonde Maze is the project of New Yorker Amanda Steckler; she’s probably sitting at home right now crafting delighting electronic pop gems. She’s getting tons of traffic as of late, and we’ll hope you’ll take a little time out of your day to learn a touch more about her. She’ll be playing her set at Iron Bear Bar on March 14th at 10 PM. No, the SXSW interviews are far from over people. We are going to continue blasting you with these things right up till next week. Hopefully you are enjoying each band’s unique take on the same set of questions pertaining to SXSW, touring, and band life in general. Up for me today is Philly based Friendship who are currently on my list of must see bands during the week. I’m happy to share their take on our questions after the jump.
Baum just keeps releasing hit after hit after hit. This year, she’ll be bringing her pop stylings into Austin, ready to take over the town during SXSW. We caught up with her briefly to catch her thoughts on the festival; we’ve also got a few of those aforementioned hits below.
She’ll be playing on 3/14 @ Space 24 Twenty (2 PM), 3/14 @ Palm Door (7:30 PM) and 3/15 @ Sidewinder (8:10).
The best thing about such a large festival like SXSW is the diversity; you can pretty much catch any sort of music you like. Demo Taped brings some soulful pop to Austin next week, and we caught up with him real briefly to catch some insight into his forthcoming performances, as well as his hit “Own It.” If he catches your ear with that, be sure to look into his Momentary EP.
If you thought our SXSW interviews were anywhere near over, man are you totally wrong. Nathan and I went crazy this year and sent these things out to tons of bands we admire and respect. Heck with still several days until music kicks off next week, I think we’re already over our total number of interviews from last year. Gotta hustle. Well we’ve reached the final countdown people, SXSW music starts next week. Most of us here at ATH have made some lists of bands we need to see and even marked a few party lineups that look promising. As always, we are about the music and won’t chase a free pair of sunglasses or a Taka vodka mixed drink. We’re actually going to start SXSW’ing this week, but we’ve still got a few interviews to roll out for you before we get going. Earlier this week BODEGA announced they’ll be working with What’s Your Rupture to release their new LP. With that came the additional buzz as the band head from Brooklyn to Austin for SXSW, bringing a blend of creatively arty rock n’ roll. If you’re looking for that act that everyone will rave about when the fest is over, I have a feeling this might be the one. Click on for their answers to our little interview! I first came to discover Parrot Dream through my Interwebs friendship with band member Matt, who also played in Exiles. He dropped me some tunes, and when I heard they were coming for SXSW, so I reached out hoping to catch them for a few quick questions.
