Last Week’s Jams (10.13 – 10.17)

There was a lot of really great music, and in all likelihood, we’re nearing the end of the yearly cycle, where I expect to kind of see a flutter of singles then the lists will pop up! On our end, we covered a lot of the ATX this week, with new stuff from Jet Cemetery, Don’t Get Lemon, Gus Baldwin and Living Set. There were some new tunes that really rocked me, like Deathcat‘s pop punk masterpiece, not to mention the new Winged Wheel noise pop piece. Even managed to find some room for old favorites like Living Hour, Pia Fraus and Bubblegum Lemonade among the masses! Crank this playlist up, as it starts with a banger from Possible Humans.

Have You Heard This Jet Cemetery Track?

I favorited the set from Jet Cemetery at the annual ATH vs SOTO party during SXSW in our recap. It was darkwave perfection, an underlying tension with glorious synth loops and dream-fueled vocals. “Melt Away” is an absolute beauty of teaser track for what we understand will be more of a full length than EP coming early next year from TaSzlin Trbuchet and Lars Wolfshield. I’m ready to pre-order based on this jam alone.

About Last Night – SXSW (Saturday-Tuesday)

As you may have heard, SXSW kicked off this past weekend with some great local shows, especially our lil shindig over at Hotel Vegas with SOTO. Things continued into the early part of the week with most of us venturing out all over town to catch some bands before Austin gets truly wild closer to next weekend. We some bands, we took some photos, and as always, we have things to say. After the jump, you can check out some of our band highlights so far, along with fancy photos from our crew. Hit it.
