More New Music from Jeremy Jay

JeremyJayLondonTreesI’ve got some unfortunate new folks.  Jeremy Jay‘s new LP, Abandoned Apartments, has now been pushed to January 24th, rather than the initially reported November due date.  But, that means we have more time to enjoy the tasty new single he’s putting out today.  Again, there’s a shimmering synth mood that runs the track, while Jeremy’s softened voice rest gently atop.  It’s funny, I think if you sped the track up, you’d have a nice little club hit, but I appreciate the sensitive approach Jay takes instead.  Just another reason for us all to look forward to 2014.

Fresh New Jeremy Jay Track

KDR005Not only do I really appreciate K Records, but I love Jeremy Jay.  So, when the two team up, you know I’m going to throw my support their way.  Jeremy has a new album titled Abandoned Apartments coming out on the label on November 12th, and we’ve got the first listen to one of the tracks for your ears. The guitar is still an integral part of the sound, though the wash of synths has become more prominent through the last few LPs, which is definitely apparent here.  Closing out the song is a twanging bit of guitar work too; it’s a nice touch to end the song.  Hope you enjoy listening to Jeremy as much as I do.

Fresh New Music from Jeremy Jay

JeremyJayLondonTreesEver since he released the Airwalker EP and  A Place Where We Could Go I’ve been an adamant fan of Jeremy Jay and his music.  But, he’s been quiet as of late, waiting almost two full years since his last release to put together a new album.  According to an email, part of that seems to be that he’s been searching for the absolute perfect place to record his music.  Our first taste of new music from Jeremy already seems destined for greatness, with an old 80s warehouse sound and Jay’s cool vocal delivery.  His new record should come our way later this year via K Records, with a single slated for release prior to that date; for now, he’s graciously sent us this incredible tune to share with you all. Do yourself a favor if you’re new to Jeremy, and go revisit his entire catalogue. It’ll be a day well spent.

Soft Ballad from Ashley Eriksson of LAKE

ashleyAshley Eriksson is the lead singer of LAKE, and the songwriter of the theme song for Adventure Time.  Of course, she’s always been working on the side, and she’s ready to debut a new record, Colours, which comes out on July 16th.  She possess a tranquil voice, carefully draped across the top of her elegant piano tapestries. There’s a respect for the the empty space that belongs in music, allowing her songs to achieve some beautiful clarity. She’ll be teaming up with K Records for this release of piano ballads, all which will require a quiet ear and a joy for voice.

New Single from The Curious Mystery

One of the main reasons I love K Records is the way they’ve consistently approached the music industry; the other thing I appreciate are artists like The Curious Mystery.  The group is releasing their Be Still 7″ on the label on January 22nd, and I’m adoring this first taste of the upcoming release. As the song rolls along, the vocals from Shana Cleveland really start to weave their way into your heart.  Everything about this track is perfect, from the harmony that runs throughout to those previously mentioned vocals.  Definitely something we all need to be on the lookout for!

Gorgeous New Track from Tara Jane O’neil

It’s nice to find a tune that regardless of its lyrical content, it forces you to look at your like with a bit of introspection.  I don’t know what it is, but this new song from Tara Jane Oneil has put me in this ultra-reflective mode today…I’m actually okay with that as I near the end of my time with 120 13 year olds.  This single is the A-Side to TJO’s newest release on K Records, which also features “Rainbow Connection” as the B-Side.  Tara sounds incredible here, and I can’t do much more than just fall in love with her voice at this time.  Hopefully you find a similar sentiment when you listen, and if so, be sure to pick it up at the K Store.

New Folk from Kendl Winter

You’ve got to love an indie rock stable with eclectic tastes, and such is the genius of K Records.  They’re set to release the new album from Kendl Winter titled The Mechanics of Hovering Flight, and I’m really enjoying getting lost in this album today. Listeners should appreciate her penchant for storytelling, especially on this single.  One listen to this track and I’m hoping you’ll see the gifts in her singing and songwriting.  Oh, and I acknowledge this is a melancholy number, but there’s definitely some more peppy numbers about on the album. In this day and age, folk music is coming at us from all angles, but only so often is it done as well as it is here.

New Tracks from Ruby Fray

Emily Beanblossom’s a bit of a roamer, and we’re happy to have her find a home here in Austin, for the time being at least.  She’s about to release her new album, Pith, via K Records on March 15th (if you buy straight from K, all money goes to Emily!) under the Ruby Fray moniker.  There’s a nice bit of difference in the two tracks, one featuring a heavy-handed guitar backbone, the other more gentle and quirky.  You’ll enjoy a similar variety on her album, so be sure to mark your calendars for the release date, as it’ll be a special listening experience for us all.

Rambunctious New Single from the Maxines

In the midst of everything out there, you gotta look hard to find catchy gems like this new number from the Maxines.  The Olympia duo are releasing their Drugstore EP on the eclectic K Records next week, and while it may be a bit short in length it definitely packs a nice little punch for your ears. For a band with only two members, there’s definitely a loud sound coming out, harkening back to the bratty riot-girl efforts from back in the day.  The EP also features guitarist Matt Maurillo on vocals, so be sure to pick this one up when it hits your stores next week.

New Tunes from Electric Sunset

Fresh out of the ashes of Desolation Wilderness comes a new project from Nic Zwart titled Electric Sunset.  The first single from his upcoming self-titled album, which comes out September 7th on K Records.   He’s blending electronic moments with extreme pop, all which lead to blissful moments for the listener.  His record is a sort of journal of sorts, so we’re all sure to find some lyric we can relate to on some level. You’ll want to be sure to get into this now, as everyone’s bound to be talking about this come the fall.
