Last Week’s Jams, Today (11.15 – 11.19)

Well friends, this is going to be a short week, and we’ll likely run some stuff today and tomorrow, then take off the rest of the week to detox before hitting the home stretch of the year. But, like every Monday, we like to start things off just revisiting what we were able to accomplish or cover last week…so you know…here we are and stuff. We’ve got some tunes from ATH faves like Papercuts and Abram Shook, as well as some of the acts I’ve been more recently in love with like KEG or Suep. So, browse, enjoy, and hopefully you start off your week on the right foot.

Keg Drop New Video for Farmhands

I’ve been really keen on Keg these last few months, as the band’s Assembly EP ruled, and they just don’t seem to be slowing down for anything at all. Today they’ve just put out a great new video for accompaniment to one of the standout tunes “Farmhands,” which takes the band to a fictional village. Alone, awesome, but then there’s the song. They hit upon the current fashion of sort of spoken-word post-punk, where the delivery’s very matter of fact, but everything moving behind is key. But, unlike many of their counterparts, they seem to be getting things a bit weirder here; they almost seem like they’re kind of pushing a proto-post-punk, dabbling in the mix with electronic soundscapes. Just keep an eye on this bunch, as they haven’t missed yet.

Last Week’s Jams Today (10.18 – 10.22)

We were back on our game last week, for the most part. We had tons of great tunes, so we’re hoping you caught wind of at least a few of these on the site. But, if you didn’t, Monday’s a great day to just sit back in your chair and relax. I also threw in a few tunes from the likes of Spirit Was, Keg, Power Supply, Belaver and Dummy who all released most excellent albums last week. You get 20 songs to ease you into this week. Might I still suggest listening to Japan Review. That Rural France tune isn’t half bad either!

Last Week’s Jams, Today (September 7 – 10)

Welcome to another Monday my friends. First, taking a minute here, as I’m writing this post, to celebrate the 7 day young Rhys Bennett Lankford! That’s right, went and had me another one of those kids, and its been a lot of fun, and well, we’re super stoked on the lil’ fella. That said, we also had a short week, so maybe we didn’t get as many jams in as we might otherwise. But, rest assured, we’ve got a pretty solid little collection of tunes here for you to begin your week, with quite a few ATX appearances from the likes of Lola Tried, American Friend and more. You know what to do, press play and stuff.

Keg Share Presidential Walk

We’ve found ourselves jamming to Keg quite a bit this year, and with a new EP on the horizon, perhaps we should share a bit of that joy with you. The Brighton outfit will surely get you some Shame comparisons, but there ability to flesh those sounds beyond is due to the group carrying 7 members in their pocket. You’ll get that angular post punk guidance, that sharp bob and weave delivery. But, the most exciting elements come when various members decide to toy with the song’s DNA, weaving in elements of jazz and post-rock into the band’s exploratory adventure. You’ll find this group on tour with Squid, where you can grab their Assembly EP, out October 22nd via Alcopop.
