Heavy New Tune From Open Head

The self-proclaimed heaviest band in Kingston, NY, Open Head, just shared this banging new track called “NY Frills” and I have deemed it worthy to share with you all. You’ll find a heavy post-punk, dark sort of vibe to the track perfect for fans of modern bands like Deeper. It’s a tad noisy with just enough rock n roll to keep it fresh and interesting. Check it out below.

Open Head will release this track as part of a new album entitled What Is Success due out January 24th via Wharf Cat Records. Pre-orders are live now.

Meet The SXSW Band: The Natural Lines

Many of the bands covered for our SXSW interviews have been mostly newer, or maybe even unknown to some, but today we have a true legend and personal music favorite sharing some responses. Though he recently hung up the old “PA” moniker, indie legend Matt Pond continues to make incredible music with a bunch of his music friends in The Natural Lines. I was very excited when Matt agreed to take part in our interview questions and not the least bit surprised when he shot them back within a few short hours. The man is a true pro. Hit the jump for full interview from Matt Pond as part of his new outfit The Natural Lines.

Automan Share Are You Happy Without Me Single

Kingston psych pop outfit Automan are pretty new on the scene, but this single definitely caught my ear, so why not toss it your way? The verses in this song definitely seem to have this sort of dry British sense of humor, scathing but also with a bit of a smirk. For me, it was the ridiculously solid chorus that truly sold me on this song; there’s something about the delivery that just kind of hangs out on the corners begging for you to be hip enough to let great pop moments shine into your life.
