Loving Share Medicine Single

Austin’s surprisingly feeling a bit wintry, and with that, my mind begins to drift to more restful days, lighter feels musically speaking, which is where this new Loving track found me. For me, there were two things that truly drew me into the depths of the tune: the velvety vocals and the light percussion. The percussion work is so light, and yet feels so prominent, it’s almost like fallen branches crackling beneath your feet as you wander down some snowy patch; the vocals add that wistfulness, carrying you on the wings of the wind, floating you along with the perfect melodic touch. This track appears on Any Light, out in February via Last Gang Records.

Loving Announce Debut Album

The hype machine around Loving has been building and building since their self-released EP, and today comes the announcement of their debut LP, If I Am Only My Thoughts. This single accompanying the announcement teases these lite little bossa-nova harmonies, working behind these sharp airy guitar notes and calmed percussion. This is the ultimate happy escapism vibe; you can feel yourself sinking into your chair, sinking into yourself…and you probably couldn’t be happier about it. Just another intoxicating pop number here, which has all of us at ATH just as excited as the rest of the folks for their LP. You can grab it on January 31st via Last Gang Records.

Loving Share Only She Knows

It looks as if I’m continuing with my Fall musical appreciation hour, following up the earlier Kevin Scoma tune with this new finger-picking slow burner from Loving. It’s the sort of fireside chat with your stereo you wish you could have throughout those cool Autumn nights, harmlessly lost on some wisp of air that finds its way to your ear. Every note is so careful, such attention given to each detail that it’s purposefulness evolves into this charmingly organic feeling. This is what you can expect from the band’s LP, out next year via Last Gang Records; they’re on tour through North America (Austin show at Hotel Vegas on 10/11) as we speak, with UK/EU dates throughout November.

Listen to Loving

I hope that no other great songs come across in email this morning, as I feel like this Loving tune might be the perfect way for our site to carry you off into the weekend. It’s a relaxed tune, though not in the casual pop sort of way, but in the sense that you’re sitting back in your recliner with your favorite beverage of choice, letting your mind drift to wherever it roams. The melody is so subtle that you hardly even notice it; you’ll only notice that for almost four minutes, you’ve completely let yourself go. Go ahead, go into the weekend.

Enjoy Nihilist Kite Flyer from Loving

It’s supposed to rain here in town this weekend, and as a guy who likes to plan and map out the soundtrack to his life, I wanted to have the perfect song to stare longingly outside while water beads up on the windows at home…lucky for me I found this Loving tune. It’s this beautifully unassuming number; it allows for both the music and your mind to wander about. Built upon a gentle guitar and piano line, the voice really sets you up for that dreamy vibe, almost giving you the chills it’s so powerful. This tune comes with the announcement that the band have signed to Last Gang Records, so we should expect release news sometime in the near future.

More From Operators

unnamed-13-1At this point in his career, Dan Boeckner can really do no wrong in my mind. Regardless of how is making music or who with, he continues to churn out hit after hit. Today I’ve got another new track called “Blue Wave” under the Operators band name. As I mentioned previously, this is truly some great music that could easily rival his early work with Handsom furs. Carry on friend.

Operators will releaseBlue Waveon April 1st via Last Gang Records.

Operators Kill It

unnamed (13)I’m realizing as I type this that several big sites posted this song yesterday, but if you’re like me and sort of anti huge music websites, well maybe you haven’t heard this yet. So Operators is the current project of Dan Boeckner who many of you know from his glorious days in Wolf Parade and his later projects with Handsome Furs and Divine Fits. Basically the guy churns out hit after hit regardless of the current name or project he’s going with. Today we have yet another gem to add to Boeckner’s hit machine with this new song “Cold Light”. As a straight shooter and a guy who is sometimes too honest, I mean it when I say that this is some of the best sounding music I’ve heard from Boeckner since his days in Wolf Parade. Count me in.

Operators debut album entitledBlue Wave will come out on April 1st via Last Gang Records.

Enjoy the New Moon King Single

unnamedI missed the hubbub with the first Moon King single, but I made sure I was on the spot to spread the word about their latest single.  I love the opening of the track, with the instrumentation hiding in the distance so the vocals can really take the prominent role.  Those instruments really begin to pick up pace after the first little bit, but the vocals hold the song quite steady, creating an interesting effect that really builds tension until after the 2 minute mark.  From their the band blast off into alternative guitar fare, hurrying to the finish line.  Last Gang Records will be releasing the group’s Secret Life LP on April 14th.
