Another Adult Books Hit

adultsTime to put your shoes on and shuffle your feet. You won’t have much more fun than if you choose to jam to this track from Adult Books. Immediately the drums give you a bounce to your step, with the guitar chords taking on the darker tones of jangling pop music. Vocals echo in a cavernous way, filling out the band’s sound, bringing infectious joy straight to your ears. It’s the latest single from the band in preparation of their forthcoming album, Running From the Blows; it’ll be released on March 4th via Lolipop Records. You can also find them on a lengthy US tour, including SXSW Dates.

Playing Catch-Up: Socorro!

flavorsFinally feel like we’re getting our feet underneath us here, so checking in on some of my favorite labels that I’ve not looked in on in a bit…Lolipop Records being one of those. Just recently they released Flavor of the Day, the newest effort from Socorro!. As the description hints, there are hints of jangling but you can also feel a more classic rock inflection in these songs. The whole cassette is out now, but if that’s not your thing, you can go grab the songs directly from the band themselves right HERE. Enjoy.

Enjoy Friendly Males New Track

friendlyI’ve been looking to find something that’s a bit out there, thus landing on this new single from Friendly Males. Musically, it’s not too distant from a lot of modern indie rock, but I think the way the vocals are recorded kind of singles it out as something more than just your ordinary fare. There’s a slight haze, and almost an electronic touch, to the voice, hiding right in the middle of the mix. Sometimes you just need a little change of pace, and for me, this song does just the trick. Look for the band’s Nopalera LP via Lolipop Records on November 6th.

Intrigued By Billy Changer

billchangerI have a mental list of my favorite labels, and when things get stale, or I feel like everything we’re posting comes after some cooler site premiered it, I go looking at labels. That’s when I discovered this rad tune from Billy Changer that really has me intrigued. It’s the latest release from Lolipop Records, though some form of the album appears to have been out for some time. It’s one of those tracks that gets stuck in your head, and you find yourself playing it on repeat over and over again. It’s a self-titled effort, so give it a listen when you get a chance. Stream it all HERE.

Sorry I Missed This: Corners

kornerAgain, the end of the year brings to your attention a lot of great hits, and I was lucky to catch this on the ever changing line-up that is Burger Records.  Corners are this sort of synth-glam-post-punk phenomenon coming out of that LA place, and what they’re creating is really something.  There’s a bit of hipness to it, but there’s also this vibe that they could really give a fuck…making for a great listen.  Their LP Maxed Out on Distractions is out now courtesy of the above mentioned folks, as well as Lolipop Records. The jam below is the one I keep gravitating towards the mostest.

New Psych Rock From Blackfeet Braves

Blackfeet Braves is a Southern California based psych rock band who specialize in their own brand of 60s style groovy rock n roll.  This song found below “Vicious Cycle” will give a sampling of what the band is bringing to the table.  As previously mentioned, you’ll immediately notice the psych rock styling that’s sure to have your head bobbing in no time.

Blackfeet Braves have their self-titled LP coming out on February 12th via Lolipop Records.
