Check Out New Organised Scum

We’ve obviously got a bunch of new music to share with you today and I’m continuing the trend with this new song called “Green Deal” from London based artist Organised Scum. It’s a hard song for me to classify well into a genre, but I do know that it’s unique and certainly draws me in for repeat listens. At times it sort of reminds me of slacker shoe gaze like Mac Demarco, then I get thrown for a loop with the vocals, and hear more of a Moonface style. Genre or no genre, this one if worth you time.

The band has let me know that they will release this song on a new EP entitled One Less Bastard, which is coming in November.

New Music from 3108

3108 has a decent resume with some powerhouse labels like Jigsaw Records or Trouble in Mind, but at the moment it seems that Kyle Hill is out on his own, so he’s offering up a few samples of the next LP he hopes to drop. Right away there’s this infectious fuzz with this twinkling pop vibe working behind it; it sort of feels like twirling with the snow falling happily upon your face. I love the late keyboard solo in the song’s latter half, providing this playfulness that gives the song an added vitality that’s often overlooked. There’s a couple of more tunes HERE if your’e so inclined.

Raucous New Single From Honey Lung

Way back in 2017, we posted about an up and coming London based outfit called Honey Lung. Since that time, we’ve missed the boat on some of their new music, but alas we put an end to that today! Fresh off some recent touring, the band just dropped this rowdy new single called “Nothing” yesterday. It definitely has a 90s, alternative/grunge vibe similar to something you might hear from later Smashing Pumpkins. Whatever you compare it to, it’s a hit for sure.

Another Tune from Trash Kit

If there’s a band you listen today that makes you think differently about the world, or makes you approach music differently, then it’s going to be Trash Kit. While they can obviously craft a tune, their songwriting and playing style is such that everything seems out of whack, everything is being thrown off…and yet it all makes such beautiful sense. The bass line is the central force of this song, yet as things growdiscordantly, the band match it all up with these swelling multi-part harmonies. Should come as no surprise that the band’s Horizon LP is being handled by the esteemed Upset the Rhythm on July 5th.

Pleased to Meet You Berg

Felt like there was going to end up with a heavy dosage of rock n’ roll today, so I had to balance that out; it’s a good thing I stumbled upon this Berg track to do just that. The song’s production has this rolling gentleness, almost like an effortless ride up and down through the hillside. Alexandra, the songwriter behind the project, has this voice that mixes pristine studio qualities with this natural soulfulness; it’s matched with the perfect arrangements, accenting her voice where needed, but mostly adding textural layers to build your emotional pull. It’s clear she’s turning heads, having recently caught the ear of Faris (from the Horrors) who has aided in the craft coming through your speakers…with more on the way soon.

London Outfit Sleep Eaters Announce Debut EP

I don’t know what it is about this Sleep Eaters song, but I just can’t quit it; I think I’ve played the opening 50 seconds over and over again. It’s got this real early post-punk feel, almost as if Television decided they wanted to get gritty again for an instant. Then, we’re flipped upside down as this jangling garage bounce rolls its way right into the tune; there’s still that cool indifference to the vocal delivery, made even cooler in the brief delivery of the chorus. Bits of swagger, nostalgically huge riffs and angular guitar lines are a sure fire way into this fella’s heart; look for their debut EP via PNKSLM on later in 2019.

LOCALS is a moniker used by the talented London based songwriter Peech Panko. As the only member of his band, it’s even more inspiring when you hear a great song like this new one “Talkboy”. Peech has created something in the garage rock vein of Wavves/Cloud Nothings, but with a much more polished sound and pop sense. It’s a short banger you should listen to now.

LOCALS will be working on an EP for release sometime later this year.

Impressive Track From Another Sky

Another Sky is a London based band I discovered during my meandering during SXSW a short few weeks ago. The band had this unique atmospheric rock sound, but most impressive, were the vocals from singer Catrin Vincent. Her range is truly astounding as she can drop down for low, angry bass notes to rise up again for the high ones as well. The band’s new song “The Cracks” demonstrates her range, and the band’s sound, perfectly. I’m not sure I’ve heard a band with such a unique sound in a very, very long time.

Another Sky will release a new EP entitled Life Was Coming in Through the Blinds! on June 14th.

Tugboat Captain Share Be Strong Smoke Less

London’s Tugboat Captain should pop up on everyone’s radar real soon, having already established themselves as a strong live band overseas. None of that matters, of course, unless the group can charm with their written material, like on the latest single “Be Strong, Smoke Less.” It’s party lounge crooner, part indiepop ditty, with the trading between male and vocal females definitely perking my ears right up to the pop sensibility. There’s a little bounce from the keyboard lines, but the joint vocal harmonies are guaranteed ways into the hearts of an pop fan. Keep an eye on this outfit, as their star is in the ascendency.

Bedroom Indiepop from Hobby Club

That dreamy guitar meandering that suckers in tons of indiepop fans opens the newest single from London duo, Hobby Club. The drums have this steady bounce that gives some additional motion to the track, but the band aim to mix it up, which bodes well for future tunes. At the tune minute they slow it way down for a mid track interlude that allows Beth to really flex her vocal chops before the listener; her range throughout the track is unique, but that musical interlude really puts her on display. The duo will be releasing their Video Days EP via Heist or Hit in March.
