Bouncy Indie Pop from StarTropics

Those of you following the indie pop world with a keen eye know that one of the best little labels is Manic Pop Records from Minnesota. The label is quickly making a name for itself by releasing gem after gem. One of their upcoming releases is this new 7″ from Chicago’s StarTropics. I can’t get this tune out of my head right now. At the beginning, I thought it had this Drums affectation, just basing that off the rhythm section, but it then begins to explore a more gentle sonic realm. You can pick up the By My Side/Tempest 7″ on May 22nd.

Bright Pop From Airplanes

Back in November, I brought you guys a taste of a new Fayettville based group going by the name Airplanes. Today I’m excited to share another new song from the band called “A Little Light” that shows a bit more quality in production when compared to the previous song I shared. You’ll notice the bright and sunny side of the song that’s something could make your day a little better. Hope you enjoy.

Dreamy Girl Pop from Mini Dresses

I know I haven’t been doing my job when there’s an Austin band that I haven’t come across that completely floors me. This just happened today with this track from Mini Dresses, a group who’s put out a couple of great singles, including this dreamy little jam. I love the sound of the bass just quietly bouncing along beneath the vocals, then the cascading guitar that echoes into the song as it fades out. You can find this gem on a recent 7″ the band released through Manic Pop Records; keep an eye out on the band both here and afar.
