Last Week’s Jams, Today (1.10 – 1.14)

Well, I will admit, there were so many songs last week that I loved that I may have gotten a touch carried away. I mean that new Methyl Ethyl with Stella Donnelly is a banger, plus new stuff from our friends in Blushing and the Reds Pinks and Purples! We even got to premiere some sweet tunes that only exist in special places, like our site, namely the latest from Yea-Ming and the Rumors and Good Grief. So, browse through this hour of tunes, and I beg you to find a bad one in there. You can’t! I’ll try to keep up the momentum this week!

What A Jam From Methyl Ethyl

I am a bit late on this new Methyl Ethyl jam as it came out on Friday, but you will have to agree with me that it’s worth sharing and blasting. If you’re looking for a pop number to brighten your dark and cold Monday, this is the song for you. I’m finding myself dancing along to this song with its catchy beats, energetic vocals, and hazy guitars. Seriously, this is what pop music should sound like.

Methyl Ethyl will release new album Triage on February 15th via 4AD.

Smooth Pop from Hamjam

I’m really surprised there’s not more of a hubbub concerning Hamjam, considering it features members of both Pond and Methyl Ethyl. Regardless, the act is crafting this sleek synth pop, filled with little burst of soaring vocals and infectious hooks. You want this tune playing as you slip into your nighttime groove; it’s definitely has vibes that guarantee a good time. And, if you’re into it, you can grab a/s/l? from Bedroom Suck Records. You can stream the whole LP HERE.

Have You Met Hamjam

Members of two of my favorites, Methyl Ethyl and Pond have formed to create Hamjam, and the sounds they’ve crafted together are quite delightful. They’ve got that subdued pop vibe, casual in its delivery, infectious in every way. There’s a nice little tone switch for the chorus, aided by accenting piano and saxophone; these are smooth jams for pop fans with refined tastes. The band will be releasing their debut A/S/L? on August 11th via Bedroom Suck Records, adding to an already strong stable of Aussie acts!
