Symphony Orchestra Drop Intersection Video

While I love the mellow tones of that Constant Follower tune we just dropped, you’ve got to make sure to pick up the pace, which is why this great new Symphony Orchestra tune kills. It’s got a new project from a few artists we’ve already covered in their other projects (Badge Epoque’s Max Turnbull and Michael Rault), but that doesn’t mean I got exactly what I was expecting here. In the opening moments, it has the playfulness of early MGMT, albeit with the musicianship the focus as opposed to the hook (that hook is still huge though). Then it moves into some funkier space, letting the guitar work speak for itself while the vocals get this metallic coating that turns the song towards fresh territory. Then when they return, they almost dwell in this bossa-nove croon for a wee bit. Lots of movement in textures and sounds, so should make their debut, Radiant Music, a special listen; it’s out on May 12th via Telephone Explosion Records.

Michael Rault Drops A New Tune

There’s something in the way Michael Rault is presenting himself during this album cycle; the song’s somehow seem so friendly, somehow connecting with me as if Rault and I were old chums. On this song, there’s a ballad, with hints of a stomp, but the string work really adds that extra something; it’s weird but it takes you from a potluck dinner with friends to a high class soiree where you’re being serenaded by some great undiscovered talent. The accompanying video has a storyline on its own, so enjoy while the song runs in the background. Look for Michael’s new record, A New Day Tonight, which drops next Friday via Wick/Daptone.

Fresh Michael Rault Tune

I’m really digging Michael Rault‘s new work as of late, particularly this brand new single. In the past, I was most impressed by his songwriting and talent…in regards to guitar. This round, it’s all about the way he’s polished that voice to be as impactful in the songwriting as his guitar work. From start to finish this tune is like a soft lounge tune, relaxed in presentation and in the vibes it gives the listener. Just a stellar bit of pop songwriting that hopefully brings more fans his way; look for his new LP It’s a New Day Tonight via Wick Records on May 18th.

Michael Rault Returns with New Album

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Michael Rault, but it’s good to see him back with new music, especially considering it’s a new LP! The first single has Rault throwing out these crazy guitar lines, seemingly walking up a musical staircase, right before he settles back into the natural groove of the track. I love how his voice seems to contrast the heavy stomp crafted by his guitar work; he reaches some notes that I’m pretty sure most of us couldn’t hit. Those out there looking for virtuosos surely will remark at some of Rault’s soloing in this tune, as one should. Look for the new LP, It’s a New Day Tonight, to drop on May 18th via Wick/Daptone. He’ll also be in town for that whole SXSW thing, if you’re around.

New Video From Michael Rault

It’s been a minute since Michael Rault released his last album, Living Daylight back in 2015, but now he’s back andwith Wick Records to release new music. He’s just shared a new video for his track, “Sleep With Me” that’s a bouncy half americana half psych jam you’ll be remiss if you don’t check out. The guitars are beyond fuzzy and cut through the jazzy drum beat along with the high pitched vocals. Take a listen below and look out for a new LP from Michael Rault coming to you soon.

Show Preview: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard @ Sidewinder (TONIGHT)

kinggizzardI have yet to make my way over to Sidewinder Austin yet, but tonight seems like the absolutely perfect time to make it out there. For one, the venue’s had a few days to work out the kinks, right? But, another plus is the psychedelic act King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are blowing into town; I’ve heard nothing short of raves about their live show, which is enough to convince me to make it out there. Still, Michael Rault and hometown heroes Hundred Visions are taking the stage early to kick the night off, so it’s the perfet way to spend your evening. The doors are at 7 PM, so you won’t have to stay out drastically late, and your night will be filled with great hits left and right. Come on, you know wanna.

Jam the New Michael Rault Tune

mrThis new track from Michael Rault‘s pretty stellar, continuing the differentiation that Burger Records has been going through in the last year or so.  I guess you could call it lo-fi, but it’s more in the vein of Coma Cinema or Alex G, though there’s a sunnier side to his tunes.  It’s like taking the songwriting chops of the other two, tossing it in with a little California cologne, then spitting it out…it’s fucking dreamy. Living Daylight, his new album, will be out on May 5th via Burger, so if it’s your style, get your cash ready.

Listen to the New Cassingle from Michael Rault

mrTuesday’s always bring new music to our inbox, and one the songs I immediately latched onto was this tune from Michael Rault.  There’s two tracks below for you to jam to, both offering a nice bit of subdued glamour pop.  You can hear hints of Ty Segall inspired songwriting in what Rault and his band have completed, though it’s spun in an entirely different direction, focusing more on the perfect arrangement of pop structures. This single is a release sponsored by Burger Records in anticipation of a full length to come your way in 2015.
