New Tunes from Jump Clubb

jumpNo one really knows anything about the California band Jump Clubb, and in fact, they try to keep it that way.  I guess that seems a little ridiculous to me, but still, they recently released this killer Elliott Smith cover “Angeles.”  It’s not what you would expect, but it seems like an appropriate way to wrap up a Friday.

New Tunes from Dominant Legs

dominantlegsWe first caught wind of Dominant Legs by way of Stereogum a few weeks back.  Any allusion to Belle and Sebastian will catch my eye! Still, this new tune isn’t quite the twee pop one expected, but it’s more summery, as if there is a lighter air to the crafty writing here. You decide.

New Tunes from Surf City

Surf+City+surfcity140A while back we brought you the sweet tunes of Surf City fresh off releasing their first EP, but now the group has more new tunes in the works, and we’re glad to bring you the new tune.  While it takes “Autumn” a few second to wind up, the band let loose once the song gets going, bringing us more than we expected.  Guess we’ll have to wait until 2010 to get more great tunes such as this.

New Tunes from Field Music

fieldMusicIt’s hard knowing who to follow in this group, as the members of Field Music also represent School of Language and The Weeks that Was. So, when news came that Field Music had new tunes to offer up on their web site, of course we jumped at the chance to get our hands on these songs.  You can do it yourself by heading to the band’s web site, or just borrow one from us.

New Tuns from The Uglysuit

uglyI know that being from Austin, we’re supposed to ignore all things Oklahoma, but you can’t really ignore great music, regardless of local mores.  So, now that Stereogum has thrown up a new tune from an unreleased EP by The Uglysuit, we had to jump on it.  This tune is a lot quieter than their work in the past, but it has an ornate quality, which definitely brings pleasure to the ears of us here at ATH.

The Get Up Kids on Daytrotter!

tgukSure, we love the in-house sessions on Daytrotter, but they’ve outdone themselves, at least in our nostalgic eyes.  They just ran The Get Up Kids session, which includes classic tunes like “I’m a Loner Dottie, a Rebel,” not to mention the inclusion of a Vitreous Humor song.  To top it all off, there is a brand new song, said to be one of nine. Could it be? Are they back for good?  I hope so!

New Tunes from Motion City Soundtrack

Motion-CityMake no mistake about me, I was a dedicated pop-punk fan throughout my days, and still hold dear to many of those mainstays.  Sure, I’m more likely to get into Descendents as opposed to all the new stuff, but even some of the new stuff gets me.  Motion City Soundtrack is one of those bands, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do on their new album My Dinosaur Life. This track is just the beginning.

New Tunes from Phantogram

phantogramUsually on the weekends I browse the net for new tunes to bring your way, and I found this little gem from Phantogram to share with you.  It was the killer bass groove that initially got me hooked here, but after awhile, the fuzzy female vocals just kept getting stuck in my head.  You’re sure to dig on this track, and we’ll keep you posted on more news from the group.

New Tunes from Horse Shoes

horseSo I was stalking The Drums earlier today, and I came across another band that I think I could love equally as much, if not more so.  They sound sort of similar, but instead of that whole surf affiliation Horse Shoes are rocking an 80s club sound.  You can catch this song now off their Imperial School EP.  And if you find a better picture of this band, let me know, as there’s just about as much info on this group as there are photos.

New Tunes from Ola Podrida

daveWith our continued support and love for David Wingo and Ola Podrida, we bring you a new tune off his upcoming LP Belly of the Lion due November 10th.  Not only do we get to support a great local Austinite, but in doing so, we get to support the great local label Western Vinyl.  Here’s to that, and here’s that new tune.
