New Tunes from Chuck Prophet

chuck-prophet1While spending time in Mexico City, Chuck Prophet fended off the swine flu craze, instead choosing to pen a new set of songs. His new album, Let Freedom Ring!, is set to come your way on October 27th.  Supposedly, the lyrics will hit out at the realization of the American Dream, but we’re sure Chuck won’t be shoving anything down your throat, as he’s not that type of guy.  Try the album’s title track!

New Tunes from Princeton

princetonPrinceton have just released their new album Cocoon of Love, and we’ll definitely get a review of it up shortly.  This new tune is little bit more laid back than the previous “Calypso Gold” single, and it features the vocals of Meredith Metcalf.  You’ll definitely want to check out the record if you enjoy this tune, as this is definitely a group with a rising star.

New Tunes from Holopaw

holopawWhat can you do when you’re part of the great roster at Sub Pop but continue to be overlooked by the masses?  Well, you switch up labels (Bakery Outlet), and you just keep writing great tunes.  That is precisely the way of Holopaw, who are set to release their new album Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness. This new tune, along with the upcoming album, makes me want to go revisit their old catalogue it’s that good.

New Tunes from Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

MilesBenjaminAnthonyRobinsonLast year, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson swept into our top albums of the year, and he looks like he’s trying to make it for two years in a row.  He’s about to release his new album Summer of Fear on Saddle Creek Records (it’s already available on iTunes) on October 20th.  The production on “The Sound” is a lot stronger than the previous album, and you might just be able to pick out a few of Miles’ friends.

New Tunes from Free Energy

freeenergyFree Energy busted out their self-titled 7″ off DFA recently, and we brought you that track, and all its glam-rcok swagger, but we’re here now to throw you the other side of the coin.  “Something in Common” is the B-Side, but it’s completely different, wearing the tag of maybe an Albert Hammond Jr. pop influence, which knowing us, is sure to win our hearts. Get into it.

New Tunes from Must Have Been Tokyo

119The great thing about the Internet is running into new bands that you deem worthy of interest, and I was fortunate enough to find another of those bands. Must Have Been Tokyo is from abroad, of course, and yet they seem like they could fall perfectly in line with everything going along over on our shores.  They just released their Vice EP, and I definitely suggest giving it a listen if you can get your hands on it. Here’s a sample of said EP.

New Tunes from Or, the Whale

whaleOr, The Whale are less than two weeks away from releasing their self-titled album, and I’ve been playing it sort of non-stop around my house. While you wait at home for your copy, I’ve got another new tune off the album to share in hopes of encouraging you to dig this little San Fran band.  If you do, the new album hits stores on September 22nd. Here’s “Rusty Gold.”
