Mrs. Magician Announce New Single

mrsmagicThe first 30 seconds of this track already had my ears, drifting vocals carefully over distorted guitar, but it wasn’t until the drums jumped in that this new Mrs. Magician tune really grabbed me. They’ve always had a knack for big hooks, and I think the production quality on this tune really allows for the group to layer the vocals of “someday I’ll fall in love,” ultimately leaving you with an emphatic piece of guitar pop. You’ll want to check it out, and look for this new 7″ on Thrill Me Records, which hits just a day or so before the New Year rings in.

Another Pop Rocker from Mrs. Magician

mrsmagicianMrs. Magician was one of my SXSW regret; I was unable to fit them into my schedule. But, at least they come right back after my mistake with a brand new single from their forthcoming Bermuda LP. This one’s another hook-laden blaster, ready to be turned up loud just in time for those Spring drives through your neighborhood. Don’t think that just because these guys are bring you A1 pop tunes that they’re not keeping it real; you can hear gang vocals coming your way via the vocals. Swami Records are releasing the new effort on May 20th.

Pop Rock from Mrs Magician

mmMrs. Magician have appeared on our pages before, and its time we give you an update on what they’re up to these days. The band just announced that they’ll be releasing their new album, Bermuda, on May 20th via Swami Records. Our first taste is this seriously infectious bit of pop rock titled “Forgiveness” featuring some great riffs and a nice little vocal fade coming in near the end before the band blasts off with a bounce towards the track’s end. Definitely nice to see these guys back in the mix, and back in our listening rotation.

Fun Surf Pop from Mrs. Magician

If you’re a fan of Waaves, you’re going to enjoy listening to Mrs. Magician even more.  They’re a San Diego surf-rock band, and while they’re just as bratty as Waaves, the recording of this track (and their album) sounds a whole lot better than some of the production on that other dudes records.  Strange Heaven is the perfect record to play all summer long, and it doesn’t hurt that it was produced by John Reis of Hot Snakes/RFTC fame.  Put it on, sit back, and imagine you and your friends chilling down at the beach…guarantee you’ll only get up to press repeat over and over.
