MX Lonely Release Return to Sender Video

Marching towards the release of their debut album, MX Lonely have come back today with another heavy-hitting round of rock n’ roll. Singer Rae Haas uses the track to explore feelings of indifference among acquaintances, which is a feeling she admits has sent her “into an absolute spiral” upon occasions. One of the musical elements that really impresses upon me is the way they clearly flirt with bringing in more metal/darkness into their sound; it’s clearly of the modern indie milieu, but while some bands flirt with punk or shoegaze, you get little metal breadcrumbs along the trail to their cottage. Their album All Monsters arrives on February 26th via Julia’s War, with a bunch of shows including SXSW on the horizon!

Last Week’s Jams (11.10 – 11.14)

In a week where paywall was all the buzz in the indie rock world, we just did what we did. We opened the emails, we listened to the songs, and we tried to give you an idea of what you may or may not like…and we did it for free, for the love of the game! We had new music from Jason Balla aka Accessory, and the beautiful tones of Bill Callahan makes an appearance this week too! SXSW announced its first few musicians, and happy to see my homies in the All American Rejects as the opening of the festival. Club 8 offered up one of their monthly gems, while our friends at Keeled Scales announced the signing of Hiding Places. A lot to share this week, and you don’t have to pay for any of it! Enjoy!

MX Lonely Announce Debut

I’m catching up on things after a trip to the PNW and paused on an email today with news of a long awaited debut LP from one of my long time favorite New York bands, MX Lonely. While we chatted during SXSW in March about the much needed physical release of guitar player Jake Harms solo EP from 2018, lead singer Rae also made mention of new music incoming this fall. Today her promise holds true with the release of this new track “Big Hips” along with live pre-orders for their debut full length All Monsters. If you’ve yet to check out this band, this is a perfect time to get on board.

MX Lonely’s new, debut LP All Monsters is available to pre-order now via Julia’s War. Those ship out in February.

ATH Top Songs 2024 – RayRay Edition

Another year is coming to a close and as we try to survive the ensuing insanity of 2025, it’s always fun to take a look back on the year that was. At this point in our existence, I can’t say any of us here at ATH put all that much stock into posturing and arbitrary year end lists, but again, I can appreciate the reflection. I am the lucky one who gets to kick off this nonsense with a year end playlists featuring a bunch of songs I found myself enjoying in 2024. Hopefully you might just find some gems you didn’t know about or something you forgot about. Though I think we ARE Brat in mindset, we are not Brat in musical tastes. Did I do that right? Check out the jump for links to both Apple Music and yes, even Spotify.
