New Gem from Ramesh (formerly of Voxtrot)

I wondered what happened to Ramesh, formerly of Voxtrot.  Personally, his songwriting was always really affecting, so I am glad to see he’s getting back out there.  Floating around the Internet is his EP 1, which you can stream right HERE for your own listening pleasure.  It’s still got that soft quality of pop that you came to expect from his old group.  Not sure if he’s still writing from Austin, but I’m going to claim him as one of our own, as we need all the good musicians we can get.  Best of luck to Ramesh as he gets back out there in the music world.

New Club Hit from Super Melody

At the beginning of August I brought you a nice little number from Super Melody, the new project from James, formerly of Architecture in Helsinki. His debut, Destination Unknown, is slated to hit stores next week.  You’re going to really dig this record if you’re into the sort of thing Chromeo does to the dance floor.  It’s definitely got that electronic-R&B vibe, meant to get you moving.  Considering its Friday, we should all put our dancing shoes on now, moving on into the long Labor Day weekend.

More New Tunes from Dominant Legs

We’ve talked about Dominant Legs for some time, and more music just seems to come our way concerning the outfit.  They’ll be offering up their debut, Invitation, on September 27th via Lefse Records.  On this track, you can definitely feel the airy quality in the songwriting, giving a sense of lightness to the group’s sound.  That little bit of pop you need can easily be found as the song moves in and out, with Ryan Lynch’s vocals holding your attention as steady rhythm beats perfectly in sync with the tracks mood. This record has been playing a lot in my house, and soon you’ll find it’s a huge part of your daily rotation too.

New Jam from Wavves

Finally! I’ve got something on Nathan Williams! I’ve actually met Dave Grohl. Twice. Why does this matter you ask? Well, Nathan, and his band, Wavves, just released a new track tonight, “I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl,” which will appear on the band’s Life Sux EP, which hits the stores on September 20th. Honestly, I wasn’t entirely convinced of Williams’ talent until the last year and a half or so, but he’s cleaned up the production, and included great hooks, like those you’ll find here.  His star was rising long ago, but I feel as if this will only continue if he progresses the way he’s been heading.  I mean, come on, just look at that face.  Put that with a track like this and you’re bound to be a huge success. Now, if only I can get that girl from Best Coast to be my girlfriend.

New Music from Strawberry Whiplash

Strawberry Whiplash is one of those great band’s that unfortunately seems to fly beneath the radar of the masses.  I’m not sure why, as the simple pop formula of Laz and Sandra is nothing short of perfect, and you’d be silly to say otherwise.  The group’s been hard at work prepping their next album for your sunny travels, titled Hits in the Car, and it should be out later this year.  But, you won’t have to wait too much longer for new tunes, as the band is set to release a new 7″ for the single, “Stop, Look and Listen.”  Laz has been kind enough to allow us to share this great B-Side with you, which I’m sure will leave you salivating for more from Strawberry Whiplash.

New Track from Pepper Rabbit

Almost less than a year after their last release, it seems that Pepper Rabbit are returning again with a brand new record, Red Velvet Snow Ball.  Said album will be released on August 9th via Kanine Records, and if it sounds at all like this debut track, it’s going to be pretty special.  I love the way the song opens with this sort of bouncy beat, contrasted by some technological warfare on the sound itself.  But, once they get going, it’s hard not to see this as anything as blissful pop music, of the best sort.  For a duo, this band sure knows how to flesh out their own sound, which you’ll definitely be aware of when you listen to this on repeat for the next several hours.

New Song from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

It’s hard not to wish the best for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.  They issued a brilliant self-titled debut, but then sort of side-stepped for their second, Some Loud Thunder.  It was muddied down, and didn’t necessarily evoke the same passion as their first release.  But, as the Internet has blown up today, the group are set to release their third LP, Hysterical, on September 20th, again releasing it on their own.  This new track, “Same Mistake,” seems to be a return to form, with string arrangements gently backing the rhythmic movements within the song.  Surely this will catch your ears, preparing us all for the final release in September.

New Tunes from Beirut

We’ve all heard for quite some time about new work from Zach and Beirut, especially considering the young man is out and about across the country this summer. Well, his first single will hit stores this Tuesday, and this track is the perfect culmination of both Condon’s past and, well, present it would seem. There’s definitely less of a nomadic troubadour trying to find his place in the global musical world, instead replacing it with touches of his previous works, while continuing to focus on his remarkable vocals. One listen to the below track will surely have anyone interested in all the future works that are sure to come our way this year.

More New Music from Snowmine

A few weeks back I brought you a stunningly beautiful track from Snowmine, and as we draw closer to the release of their record, Laminate Pet Animal, on May 3rd, more tracks are slowly leaking out.  This newer track takes it’s time to build you up, as you anticipate some sort of soudn explosion.  While the band does give in, it’s not quite as strong as you would expect, showing great restraint to maintain the band’s song structure and sound, rather than indulge in the quiet/loud formula of modern lore.  It’s hard not to fall for this band at the moment, crafting gently moving melodic pieces of wonderment.
