Hit Release Pure Unreal Single

When you roll how we roll, you’re obviously going to miss a few things, as I’ve already copped to this week, but I really did love this new Hit single that dropped the other day. The New York outfit is working on polishing off a new record, slated for early 2026 release, and this tune definitely piqued my interest; there were elements that reminded me of Pains of Being Pure at Heart, especially in the chorus. That said, they take a more kind of open psychedelic approach to the vibe, rather than diving into the jangling side. Dive into the new single and keep the group on your radar for next year!

The Melody Chamber Release New Single

When I think upon new music, it’s easy to see where a lot of artists are coming from, pulling from this genre and that, but in a modern fashion. That said, you can usually place those tracks in certain eras or time frames, but listening to The Melody Chamber (sans the Echo), you get a timelessness, a sound that blends pop form the ages up until now. You’ll definitely notice some of the softened jangles, encircling your ears with this bright melody, then visiting you with this blanketed vocal warmth that has given the group some Psychedelic Furs comparisons. It’s the sort of music you can turn on any time, and any day, always relishing the charm. Their self-titled debut album will be out on November 7th via HHBTM and Too Good to Be True.

Sweet Nobody Drop Forget Me

Through their first few handfuls of singles, the folks in Sweet Nobody have been turning out really charming pop rock, but today they make their boldest statement with “Forget Me.” I was first caught by the confidence and power of the vocals, hitting some notes that fall between Sharon Van Etten and Jenny Lewis. But, cementing the power of the vocal hook is the way they build up the tune, using stuttering riffs to kind of add tension to the track, then rolling out the red carpet for the melody to walk right up and blow you away. If pop rock is your bag, there’s not better you’ll here today. They release Driving Off to Nowhere on November 7th via Repeating Cloud.

Magic Fig Share Flammarion

Somewhere in the realm of dreamy psychedelia lives the sounds of Magic Fig; they’ve incorporated little sprinkles of electronic dreamy pop, not too far off from a Stereolab, then filled the noise behind with these little nods to prog rock and psychedelia. It creates this sense of wonderment that continuously has you rewinding to see if you can revisit the nuanced notes beneath the surface. Around the 4 minute mark you get this guitar excursion, which seemed really fitting, kind of letting the song cascade out to a blissful close. The group should certainly be on your radar as they prepare to release Valerian Tea on November 21st via Exploding in Sound.

Daphne Tunes Returns

Our good friend Santiago and his Daphne Tunes have mostly been quiet the last few years, but a few weeks ago, he popped back up; I meant to run it that week, but, well, I got caught up in life, and was reminded by our good buddy John at 101X Homegrown. So, here’s the newly penned tune, featuring one of our favorite voices, period; Santi was one of the main reasons we fell in love with Growl, but his solo work encompasses this new sincerity that instantly feels like I’m being comforted by everything right in the world. Always glad to throw support behind old friends!

No Lonesome Share Am I What I’m Not EP

Chicago’s always got a lot of solid acts that should be on your radar, and No Lonesome are just another in a long line of artists to adore; they released their Am I What I’m Not EP this past week, and here we are to revisit. I chose the tune to spotlight below as it has this broad approach, which is one you’ll find lurking in the release; it opens lightly, almost in a baroque pop fashion as horn arrangements swell in the background. You’ll find a marching pace that keeps the beat, though they don’t move in with the tension as one would expect, holding back just a bit so that the build feels absolutely huge. If that big swell doesn’t hit, then reach out to a neighbor as you might be in need of some help!

Living Hour Release Internal Drone Infinity

Happy Release Day to Living Hour! Their new child, Internal Drone Infinity is out in the world today, courtesy of Keeled Scales, Paper Bag and Beloved Records. What better way to celebrate a new record than by dropping a new video for one of the more gentle tunes on the LP. This song works in contrast to some of the earliest singles, operating in a pretty stark format, though the strained power can only be contained for a period of time, as it briefly shines around the 4 minute mark. But, for the most part, it’s a reserved bit of guitar pop, allowing the lyricism and the magnificence of Sam Sarty’s voice to soar through your speakers. Really a must have Friday listen, if you ask me!

Living Set Share We Named It

I love when a group comes alive and completely twists your expectations. We’ve know of Austin’s Living Set for some time, covering Quin Galavis work for nearly over a decade. But, the progressive songwriting on the latest single illustrates just how far his new project is pushing his songwriting (along with the rest of the band!). They’re incorporating a mixture of sounds, blending these slightly motorik grooves with psychedelia and electronica; it reminds me a lot of a more modern twist on what Electrelane and Broadcast doing, or maybe something more recent like The Melenas. Really hoping the band have an album up their sleeve, as you can’t sleep on songs this good for long!

Maraudeur Announce Flaschentrager

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for the lack of appropriate punctuation to our German friends in Maraudeur; we’re too cheap to pay for the WordPress bonus package! But, in terms of the incredible announcement about Flaschentrager hitting overseas in a month, I’d love to celebrate the group’s ability to sound familiar, unique, and totally like very little else out there. As much as I love covering new music, it can grow stale, but then you hit the refresh button and you hit across a group who don’t care about rules or expectations; they play with a spritely innocence, content to stutter into melody then spring right away. It’s absurdist pop music at its most brilliant, and I’m totally here for it. The LP drops via Feel It Records on November 14th.

Don’t Get Lemon Share Paid Holiday

There’s a lot of new wave revisiting over the last several decades, but very few acts are really diving back into the original blend of bold pop with electronic foundations, at least not in the way Don’t Get Lemon do! The Austin outfit begin their with a twinkling synth line, it’s got a synthetic percussive snap too, giving just enough pace to let the vocals come in and off a classic pop croon. Thrown all together, the tune blossoms into this beautiful chorus that seems fitting for a dance scene in a John Hughes movie. They take their time to let the tune move off into a mid-track excursion, which I certainly appreciate, then swing for the fences as they bring the bold pop sound home. Go back to the future with this jam!
