Fresh Tunes from The New Tigers

We haven’t heard much from The New Tigers since their last EP in 2016, but lucky for us, they’ve been hard at work on a brand new album for Soliti…with the accompanying single. The band are brandishing the best sort of casual pop, relaxed in style, yet filled with delicious melodies that captivate listeners. Perhaps the most intriguing part of this tune is its ability to continuously keep you interested by minor musical adjustments, turning the melody this way and that so as to provide more depth. The band’s attention to detail surely means their next LP will be a mesmerizing listen, so stay tuned!

Banger From Oh Joy

Man of us here at ATH have a soft spot in our hearts for Irish bands and the incredible music they’ve created in the indie world. Make a quick search for something like Ireland, Irish, or Dublin and you’ll see what I’m talking about. My latest Dublin, Ireland obsession comes by way of this song “So Swell” from Oh Joy. It’s like some of the best rising bits of WWPJP clashed with the brooding moments of early 90s alternative rock. Sounds wild, but you will definitely enjoy yourself.

Hear a New Sam Evian Tune

I should have known by the involvement of Chris Cohen that I was going to adore Sam Evian. He’s working on the follow-up to Premium, and if this is any indicator, we’re in for something quite special. His vocals take on that ethereal quality, almost feathery in their presentation…they just ride the horizon of the mix perfectly. Drum work is steady, handled by Cohen, and the arrangements texturize the track in a way that few other artists imitate. Somewhere in the realm between Papercuts and the returned Clientele lives Sam Evian…and it’s beautiful to be a part of it.

New Single From Rural Alberta Advantage

Much has been said on this here website about Toronto based band Rural Alberta Advantage. Though with all that coverage in the past, we’ve somehow managed to completely flake on posting about the band’s latest album. I’m rectifying our foolishness with a quick blurb about the group’s most recent single “Toughen Up”. This really is typical RAA music here with always impressive vocals from Nils Edenloff, beautiful harmonies from Robin Patch, and a reliable tight, folk rock sound throughout.

New album The Wild is out on October 13th via Saddle Creek (pre-order).

Brilliant New Song From Shout Out Louds

I have no idea why ATH has yet to talk about the new Shout Out Louds records… Let me apologize profusely for our absent mindedness and hit you with latest teaser track from the new album “Paola”. Just sneaking in before the album’s release date tomorrow, this new single is classic SOL material and I couldn’t be happier. The rhythm section creates this tight, driving force to the song as the vocals from Adam Olenius play off the sounds perfectly. I forgot how much I like this band.

Shout Out Louds will release Ease My Mind on Merge tomorrow. Buy yourself a copy here.

New Music from The Just Joans

  1. I knew this single was coming our way, but unfortunately I was on vacation when it dropped! So I rushed back today to drop this new tune from Glaswegian group The Just Joans; they’re offering the perfect brand of glistening indiepop, moving back and forth between upbeat moments and more sultry swing to entice listeners. Such gems are hard to find nowadays, but rumor of a full-length in the works should keep us all looking forward to the next steps from this act. Grab this new single from Fika Recordings now!

Ruby Fray Returns with New Single

Austin’s been fortunate to house Emily Beanblossom’sRuby Fray for the last several years, and while she’s about ready to leave our city for Chicago, it looks like she wanted to leave us with one more great track. I love the brooding bounce that really pushes this track forward, almost crafting a dream pop number as keyboards twinkle in the distance. I like the little syllabic notes she tosses in with her vocals, adding a layer of playfulness to what seems like an otherwise sullen tune. Emily and her band will head out on a Western tour of the States before heading back up to Chi-town to wrap up her work on a new album.

More from Black Fly

I’ve previously posted about Black Fly, and the more I give into my electronic inclinations, the more impressed I am by his work. He opens this track with a dense little soundscape before kicking in heavy synth beats that drive the song forward. Rhythmically, it gets you going, then he drapes these deep toned vocals atop the mix, only to pull back the rains with a steady beat and soft piano notes. His songs take on so many switches and changes that you’ll find it hard not be fascinated by his work. Go ahead…I promise its okay to love this.

More From Pauwel De Meyer

Back in October Nathan shared with you guys a sweet new track from up and coming Belgianartist Pauwel De Meyer. Well I’ve recently picked up word of this new single entitled “Emotional King” and I had to share it with you today. It’s a nice little indie rock track with some slick guitar work meandering through each verse. Ya dig? Stay tuned as we receive more information from this promising new artist.

Diet Cig Give Us More To Love

If it isn’t abundantly clear yet, we here at ATH are big fans of that band called Diet Cig. We just saw them at Sound on Sound, have attended their show in the past, and love the energy brought by the duo in everything they do. With that said, I was obviously excited this morning to get an email delivering news of a new single and the release of their debut album. I already can’t wait for the album and a chance to see them again come March. Very excite!

Swear I’m Good at This will come out on April 7th via Frenchkiss Records.
