Electronic New Wave From NO/NO

12028820_904958519559904_2891444078120180650_oNO/NO hail from Milwaukee and specialize in synthy new wave music. They’re on their way to releasing a new album, and with that, earlier this week they shared a new single called “Whatever,” which will help you end your work week, or keep plugging through the day, whichever is your case. What strikes me about this track is the general balance of the whole tune; there’s a whole lot going on in this blend of electro-pop, but it’s not overwhelming or too much. The percussion is smooth and the synths chime in and out, making the track a near five minute effortless groove. Take a listen and get ready for Sound and Light, which will be out sometime this spring via Gloss Records.

Video Premiere: No/No Unleash “Red Flag”

noI’m always eager to help spread the word for really great bands that I enjoy, and if you’ve read these pages then you’ve already heard about how much I love the No/No…formerly the Delphines. They’ve released a couple of great EPs since rearranging their line-up, and I’m still hooked on the band.  Their most recent XO EP is definitely worthy of your time, and the band have allowed us to premiere their brand new video for “Red Flag,” the EP’s third track.  Check it out below, and enjoy great music on this Monday morning.    You can also stream the EP below!

NO/NO are a group from Milwaukee that has apparently risen from the ashes of former band The Delphines and are now all about making new wave shoegaze pop music. A few months ago, they released their debut EP, Drag, and are already back again with this EP, X.O. These four songs combine all the things you love about the aforementioned genres, and each one seems more infectious than the one before it. I’m really digging this whole EP, but especially the third track, “Red Flag,” which has not just the twee synth riff that carries the song, but a cutting and matching guitar part. The vocals combine both high and low, and that chorus should get those toes tapping away. If you don’t listen to this EP you’ll be sorry when this band is huge. Shoot, their sound is already pretty huge to me.

The Delphines Now Named No/No + New EP

dragEarlier this year I wrote about a discovery that really excited me, the Delphines.  Sadly, that group is no more; they had some line-up changes, namely in the vocal/lyricist department. Now the group, with new member Cat Ries are going by No/No, but the music they’re crafting is every bit as exciting as the old act, if not more so.  You’ll still hear indiepop tropes, though it seems to be spun in a darker manner, which adds another layer that should quickly gain the group a nice following. Help the band out by donating some funds when you grab the Drag EP from them on HERE.
