Nothing Drop Video For April Ha Ha

Crazy as it may seem, Philadelphia based boys Nothing are going on 10 years in existence though it seems like yesterday when they were proclaimed “band to watch” by just about every music blog with a keen ear. Now showing major signs of truly growing into their very own unique sound, the band dropped their fourth album entitled The Great Dismal last Friday via Relapse Records. Personally, I think the album is an immediate classic and a possible contender for my albums of the year list.

Always the creators, Nothing prepared four videos from the album’s singles with the last one for track “April Ha Ha” coming yesterday. It’s one of my favorite songs from the album and comes after previous videos for “Famine Asylum”, “Say Less”, and “Bernie Sanders”. Care to hear more? You can actually stream The Great Dismal right now and/or purchase a physical copy from Relapse Records.

Raucous New Single From Honey Lung

Way back in 2017, we posted about an up and coming London based outfit called Honey Lung. Since that time, we’ve missed the boat on some of their new music, but alas we put an end to that today! Fresh off some recent touring, the band just dropped this rowdy new single called “Nothing” yesterday. It definitely has a 90s, alternative/grunge vibe similar to something you might hear from later Smashing Pumpkins. Whatever you compare it to, it’s a hit for sure.

Day For Night: Sunday In Photos

day-for-night-sun-282Second big gallery, this one is nuts cause we had a full day of festing planned out.

First of all, you can’t plan the weather, but you can plan for it. It was frrrreaky cold. I was sporting my fluffy socks, gloves, the wind proof jacket and the X-Men scarf (thanks, Beth). The suffering was worth it as once again, the fest proved to be a fantastic place to have a camera.

The Sunday gallery from Day for Night features Nothing, S U R V I V E, Ariel Pink, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Matmos, Lightning Bolts, Liars, Night Drive, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Little Dragon and Butthole Surfers. Wow.

Dreamy New Single From Nothing

unnamed-161-640x421Man this new music from Philly’s own Nothing has been getting tons of spins around my house lately. Their RSD single release of “ACD” is this perfect emo style throwback sound similar to old bands like Copeland, Explosions in the Sky, or even some Clarity era Jimmy Eat World. For some of you readers, that may turn you off immediately, but we ATH kids love that shit. So while Nathan is in party mode, I’m feeling the feels at my desk listening to this sweet new single “The Dead Are Dumb”. Give me 10 more just like it please.

Nothing will release Tired of Tomorrow on May 13th via Relapse (pre-order here).

Nothing Covers Low

nothingIt appears that my offerings on this Tuesday are going to be a bit up the sad bastard stream, or the slow core or whatever other genre we can toss at the downtrodden tunes.  This tune’s great; it was great the first time Low did it on Things We Lost in the Fire.  Now, however, it’s being retouched up by rising star, Nothing.  I love the fact that the song still captures the emotion of the original; it still sounds just as frail as it did originally, showing that the band is covering this for more than just kicks.  It clearly has meaning to the group, as it does for me, so perhaps you’re one of those folks too who’ve always been attached to the craftsmanship of Low.  Give this a listen and see how you feel.

Gaze Type Tune from Nothing

nothingThis new track from Philadelphia’s Nothing is one of those tunes that you’ve really got to turn up loud to complete let it wash over you, or wash you away…depending on what you’re looking for in the tune.  There’s distortion on the guitar from the get-go, swirling, though they definitely have a 90s alternative bent at the root. Then, just as you’re blasting off, they flip things on you, and leave you in a free-fall of atmospheric noise and quieted vocals.  It should make for quite a listen when the band release Guilty of Everything via Relapse Records on March 4th.
