Two Fields Over Share We Have

Long long ago, a love interest gave me some early orchestral pop record, and whether that was the impetus for personal growth or not, I definitely swung from my punk/emo roots into different musical regions. Needless to say, those tastes have stuck around, which is where I found my appreciate for Two Fields Over. There’s something in this that reminds me of Kings of Convenience; it’s light on the guitar sound, with sweeping streams bringing movement through the track as horns blast to further the textural rise you’re after on this one. A delicate listen, but one that sets the tone for the group’s new record, Grains of Verse!

The Genius of Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk

bbddmRemember when we all first discovered Grizzly Bear? All of your friends and their friends were talking about this great new act that burst forth seemingly out of nowhere. Well, that’s not the story for Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk, and then again, it is. They’re not a new act by any means, but they’ve been layering lush harmonies atop one another for quite some time, culminating in the beautiful new tune. I’m not one-hundred percent sure what the lyrics are taking on, but that’s what a lyrics sheet is for, right!? Their new effort Burritos will be out next week via Fire Talk Records, but I implore you to go to their BANDCAMP PAGE and explore their catalogue.

I’m Enjoying This Track from Wovoka Gentle

wovokaDidn’t have a clue who Wovoka Gentle was going into this track, just a push in the right direction. I’m quite impressed with this tune and the layers of work that went into crafting such exhilarating pop music. At moments the song seemingly takes on the roleof a loop project, using vocals wrapped around one another to create a huge coating of harmony. Still, put your ear closer to the speaker and you’ll hear little glimmers of Americana/folk in the actual musicianship; it’s all continuously filled these airy orchestral touches too. On November 27th the group is set to release their Wovoka Gentle EP Blue, so keep your ears peeled for more delightful tunes.
