Last Week’s Jams, Today (10.24 – 10.28)

It’s strange. Last week, I was complaining that the tunes were drying up as its nearing the end of the year. And here we are, RayRay and I getting a solid 20 songs up, plus interviews and coverage of Levitation. Guess we crushed it, along with our friend JWagner, who gave us some solid Babe Rainbow coverage. Personally, of all the tracks I loved last week, that Heather Trost tune is just a flat out star; I need ya’ll to get behind me on this! Our Aussie friends in Deuce also dropped us a new ditty, plus we got a new Tubs announcement out there. Tune in and let us know what you’re loving.

Pale Dian Share Misanthrope Video + Release Feral Birth

Austin’s Pale Dian have opted to craft you a record built perfectly for the haunting of souls this October, creating a collection of eleven songs that dwell somewhere in the realms of goth and dream pop. They’ve even enlisted Mitch Kramer to craft this incredible video for standout track “Misanthrope,” pulling in a combination of futurism and psychedelia that blends perfectly with the band’s sound. On my end, this song is all about the pacing. It’s like waking up and everything around you is moving in slow-motion; you can feel the tension and the reverberation of the band’s dreamy sounds billowing around you, closing in, but you can’t escape it…nor would you want to, as the beauty of the song supersedes your fear. Check out the super rad video below, and head HERE to stream the whole new LP, Feral Birth.

Pale Dian Go Dark With “Evan Evan”

12615340_1101543239877021_401735207472384011_oAustin’s own Pale Dian have been making waves with their dark shoe-gaze music, and so I’m excited to share that they’ve put out another single that doubles down on this darkness. “Evan Evan” is a five minute spiral in to layer upon layer of twangy and gritty guitars. The vocals are angelic for the verses, and then turn menacing with a bit of bite for the choruses. This song is excellent, and you’ll find yourself revisiting it throughout the day. Pale Dian are just about to hit the road on tour, so make sure you see if you can catch them anytime soon. And make sure to keep your ears perked for their upcoming record,Narrow Birth, which is out June 3rd fromManifesto Records.
