Back in the winter months of February, I discovered the Michigan based band called Minihorse. I was immediately drawn to the group’s style of slowed down, slackerish rock style with tons of rises and falls throughout each song. Today I’m pleased to share with you another single from the band entitled “Summer Itch”. This one has an even slower, mellow vibe when compared to the previous single, but it yet again well slap you in the face with some loud guitar breakdowns from time to time. It’s another beauty.

Minihorse will release their debut album Living Room Art on July 26th via Park the Van.

New Pop Tune from Empress Hotel

Personally, I think a good pop tune supersedes all allegiance to hipsterdom and elements of cool. And in that spirit, I’ve fallen for this new track from Empress Hotel. The New Orleans-based group will be releasing their Heavy Halo album via Park the Van Records on September 11th. On their latest single, they’re just getting into a nice solid groove, allowing the natural hook within the song to make its way into your ears. You get the feeling that these dudes were sitting around, relaxing and writing fun tunes that warmed their hearts. Sounds like a recipe for a really fun time. See for yourself.

New Music from Generationals

I was all about Generationals when their catchy album Con Law hit the streets, and now it seems like there is even more reason to be excited. They’ve got a new EP coming out soon on Park the Van, and it was recorded by our very own Austinite Bill Baird! This new track, “Trust,” shows the band bringing a grittier bit to their pop du jour. Pounding drums, clever vocal delivery, and those angular guitar lines cutting through one another just make this the perfect end of fall to winter jam. The Trust EP will be in stores on November 16th!
