Another Hit From Pleasure Beach

Screen-Shot-2015-04-22-at-7.06.13-PMBack in April we heard this great new track called “Go” from Belfast group Pleasure Beach and the entire ATH crew became fans instantly.  Today we’ll see the versatility of this group with a brand new, and completely different, song entitled “Hayley”.  This one isn’t exactly the upbeat and catchy tune we heard in the spring, it’s more of a slow burning, crooner beauty.  For me, this is showing a band who might really have some staying power.  Continue.

Pleasure Beach will drop their debut EP on October 30th.

Stream New EP From Blaenavon

10514738_720240444695657_404149877485594319_nOnly last week I shared with you a new favorite discovery of mine with a song by a U.K. band called Blaenavon.  After my initial infatuation with the sounds I was hearing, I couldn’t wait to hear even more from the band’s upcoming EP.  Well today is a treat for anyone who also took a liking to the band as I have a full stream of the group’s new EP Miss World.  You can check that out below and also order a physical copy by heading to Transgressive Records (out Oct. 30th).  I expect these guys to blow up ASAP.

Fresh Pop from Borrowed Beams of Light

unnamedEver get one of those pop tunes that just grabs you by the ears and won’t let you go? That’s my feeling when I listen to the latest single from Borrowed Beams of Light. It’s got a really steady indie rock sound, casually laying down some modern Spoon cum Glasgow riffage, then turning on the emotional pull with this rising/falling vocal performance that kicks off around the one-minute mark. Seriously, just wait and I promise you’ll be hooked too. It’s the B Side to the band’s new 7″ on WarHen Records, so be sure to support great pop.

Brand New Single From Blaenavon

10514738_720240444695657_404149877485594319_nI’d be a terrible person if I didn’t share this new song with you called “Destiny’s Mild” from up and coming U.K. band Blaenavon.  The sound is a mixture of angst ridden Twilight sad and some of the more upbeat and pop sounds of Foals.  I’d think with two big name drops like that, you’re already hitting play and enjoying.

The Miss World EP will come out on October 30th via Trangressive Records.

One More From GEMS

untitled (2)ATH approved band GEMS will be releasing their new album Kill the One You Love later this month on Carpark Records and the entire crew over here already loves the release.  Prior to the release date on October 30th the band is offering one more new single called “w/o u” shared below.  This one is for fans of synth heavy, chilled out, dream pop vibes.  Really I have nothing else to say about this band as the wealth of quality tunes now say everything I cannot.  Enjoy.

More From Here We Go Magic

herewegomagicI was just talking to someone this weekend about Here We Go Magic and how the band almost seems like a local product with how much they are in town and how much we all love them.  Somehow the band has managed to stay popular, relevant, and evolve their sound over the years while we continue to support.  I’m excited today to be sharing this new single from the band called “Tokyo London US Korea”.  To me, it’s rather impressive how much the band has grown up and matured since their beginnings.

Be Small is out on October 16th via Secretly Canadian.

Brand New Single From Hethers

hethersA few things seem to have changed for Hethers.  First, they dropped the “a” from their band name. Second, they moved off to New York, having been formerly based in LA. Of course, there’s also some musical changes too, which we could already witness on their last single in June. Some of the jangling moments that were apparent on early songs from the Fear 7″ are gone, and while there’s a huge pop sensibility, I feel like there’s a huge Paul Westerberg influence lurking in this track. Still now news on an official album or a new 7″, but I promise to let you know as soon as I do. I’m just stoked to share a good jam.

ATH Premiere: Tiger Waves Return w/ Jana Horn

tigerwavesWhat great news! Two of our favorite artists working together! I’ve fawned over Tiger Waves, well, since pretty much ever. And, the last few years we’ve praised Jana Horn and her work with Reservations; we’ve even recorded a take-away show with her that will never come to light as long as she continues to pay the ransom. But, today the unleash a new song upon the world, and it is the perfect blend of their separate talents. It plays on the craftsmanship of Tiger Waves songwriting, which lives somewhere in the world between and hazy modern tropes. Then it brings Horn’s perfect voice into the fold, leaving listeners with what’s a near perfect track. Personally, I love the little heartbeat guitar line lurking in the background. You should go donate some funds to the band, as this single is currently NYOP…meaning give them money so they can keep recording such magic.

GEMS Return With Another Hit

untitledA quick search for L.A. band GEMS on ATH will return many posts from just about every writer in our team.  Clearly such a show of affection for a band should tell you to expect a post and some love every time the group shares a new track.  Today I’m pleased to be bringing new song “Soak”, which is surely another stellar tune to add to the band’s repertoire.  We have yet again been treated to a dark, electro-pop hit sure to make some year end lists.  Play.  End.  Play again.

Gems will release Kill the One You Love on October 30th via Carpark Records.

Get Down With Future Elevators

unnamedIt’s rare for me to post tunes like this one from Future Elevators, but I feel like most of us may need it this Monday after a long weekend of exciting football and show.  The track, entitled “Modern World” is a sure fire dance hall hit with killer beats and a groovy vibe.  I’m confident that such a jam can brighten up even the worst of Mondays.  It’s already done so for me.

Future Elevators will be releasing a full length LP sometime in 2016.  Stay tuned for updates.
