Late to the Party: Fort Lean

11201878_1024241284283320_5550141870366638523_nThere’s been tons written about Brooklyn’s Fort Lean, and I’ll admit that I was only mildly interested until yesterday when I found myself listening to the band’s latest “single” (it’s been floating around for a bit). “Buddy Boy” seems like the perfect entry point for people like myself that are discovering the band; it’s a heavy dose of strategically written pop, bursting with melodies amidst a warm wash of electronics flourishes and other atmospheric touches. It’s one of the tunes off their New Hobbies EP, which features this B-Side, so don’t be a dummy like me and get your ears around it now. Also, check out their LP, Quiet Day, which also just came out.

Ain’t Nothing Wrong With A Little Sleek Indie Rock

10698454_841530082554442_5105872687075900313_nAre you bummed that Summer’s on its way out? Same. So lets channel some late summer vibes with Fort Lean, an outfit out of Brooklyn who’ve got some straightforward indie rock for you to enjoy. “Might’ve Misheard,” is a great rock number with a radio-ready and explosive chorus that’ll let you shake off the ever-relentless heat. The song starts off already at a simmer, building its way to that streamlined chorus. This number is taken from these gentlemen’s upcoming full length record, Quiet Day, which is out on October 2nd via Ooh La La Records. Take a listen and if you like it, preorder that record here.
