Having been a long-time fan of Jason Quever’s project Papercuts, I’ll say I was a little disappointed in Austin on Tuesday night, as very few people showed up to see some of the great music the band had to offer up. Opener Banjo or Freakout also deserve some recognition, as they definitely put me on notice.
First show at Stubb’s of the 2011 Season for me and it was a good one. The Walkmen brought the Head and the Heart along and had TV Torso do the opening honors. There were some changes to the gravel pit, over the quiet period. More on that and the show after the break…

An evening with The Thermals is never a bad way to spend any evening, let alone a cool Saturday night, so we headed out to Red 7 to grab a few drinks while watching one of our favorite bands. We were also really excited to be able to catch Cymbals Eat Guitars, another one of the bands out there trying to bring back a bit of rock into our roll.
One couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening to watch music, as the cool breeze, rare for a summer evening, crept in upon those in attendance at The Mohawk this past Thursday. Every thing was poised for a perfect night of music, as good friends joined to watch The Helio Sequence. Follow the jump for review and pics.
