Special Pop Track from W-H-I-T-E

WhiteI’ve got some work to do.  I had no idea who W-H-I-T-E was up until I received the email that contained this incredible tune.  If you’re not in the know either, it’s the project of Cory Hanson, an LA musician who seems to have created the perfect blend of pop music.  There’s a heavy coat that hangs over this entire track, but the vocals are so soft and serene that you find yourself playing the song over and over again.  This is what the new direction of electronic music sounds like to me, or it should anyways.  He’ll be releasing his third album, aptly titled III, on May 28th via Aagoo Records, so be sure to pick this one up.

Relaxed Pop from Finnmark!

1641599171-1You’d think that based on the name, Finnmark! would be stuck somewhere in Scandanavia, and while the music may be as such, the band itself comes from Leeds.  I can’t really say enough about this single, encouraging me to give the group my full backing, even on just one track.  I love the effortless vocals, matched perfectly by the churning guitars.  Towards the end of the song, my love affair just fell deeper with the vocals stretching to higher pitches. For now, just enjoy this great tune and thank me later.  I’ll keep you posted as I hear more from the band.

Rad Rocker from Bird Skulls

I’ve played this song on repeat at least ten times, and I can’t help but be transported back to my adolescence, fueled by angst and hooks.  In two minutes, one of the UKs hottest acts, Bird Skulls, blasts through with distorted guitars at breakneck speed.  It’s a bit of grunge, but a bit of punk rock, so in essence, it’s sort of like everything we all loved about the late 80s/early 90s.  You can get your hands on their new single cassette from the kind folks over at Art is Hard Records, and they’ll throw in a nice little winter hat to make your life warmer.  I’m glad people still make music like this.

New Southern Punk From Natural Child

Nashville southern punk rockers Natural Child have been favorites of the crew around the ATH offices since the release of their LP For The Love of the Game earlier this year.  Well now the band already has new album details coming our way today with news of second LP this year Hard In Heaven coming out way September 11th on Burger Records.  A preview of the new album can be found below in the form of new single “B$ig P$mpin”.  It’s just what you’d expect from the band, fast and furious indie punk with a touch of their native state’s souther rock.

New Music From ARMS

Here’s a new upbeat jam from called “Summer Skills” from Brooklyn based band ARMS.  Now some of you may take note that the band already has a song with this title so we’ve been instructed to tell you that this is more of a re-working of the old song.  The original version of this tune appeared on an LP of same name that came out late last year.  Hope you enjoy this “Bump in the night” take of this older song by the band.

New Slow Burner From Chase King

This new tune “Bed of Lies” from songwriter Chase King is the perfect slow burner for those of you kicking off a road trip or perhaps enjoying some time under the Texas night sky.  It’s a song that mixes Mark Kozlek’s sounds with a few parts of old school Elliot Smith and then leaves you wondering what you just heard.  I dig that.  A new album from Chase South Tropical Trail is due out July 24th on Wonderland Archive.

New Jam From Yawn

Those of you looking for a nice jam to nod your head to while spending some time at the pool, or by the beach this summer, should really check out this new song “Ganymede” from Chicago band Yawn.  It’s a killer tune that evokes the stylings of Yeasayer and puts another solid band into the elctro-pop game.  This song actually appears on new EP from the band Happy Tears that the band is graciously offering for free download over on their website.  Check it out.

Spritely Pop Tune from Alpaca Sports

When I found this gem in my inbox, I tried to look up some info, as the hooks made it nearly impossible to ignore this group.  In truth, there is little information on Alpaca Sports at the moment, other than that it’s a solo project of Andreas Jonsson of Sweden, filling out his sound with the help of friends.  One thing is for sure, the Internet seems pleased with this tune, as its popped up in various places aside from ours.  This single is extra playful, reminding me of recent tracks by Hospitality.  If this track doesn’t get your toe tapping or put a smile on your face, please consult your doctor immediately.

New Rocker from Black Twig

There’s not a hotter label in my mind right now than Soliti Music, and the killer label has been generous enough to share us this incredible new track from Black Twig.  The group will be releasing their album Paper Trees via the label on January 11th, and as of right now, this is one of my most anticipated records for 2012.  In this newest single you’ll find jagged guitars jangling, but it’s the vocal that really grips you; it’s calming, which juxtaposes the furiously beautiful noise that bounces through the rest of the song.  If you’ve heard anything better this week than this track, then give me a heads up, as I don’t think you will.

New Single From Tallest Man On Earth

Those of you who haven’t checked out the new Adult Swim single series should really head over to the site and see what they have to offer.  Already having posted great new songs by Best Coast, Mastadon, and to How to Dress Well, they seem to know what’s up in the music game.  Today the site posted this great new single by long time ATH favorite Tallest Man on Earth.  The song “Weather of a Killing Kind” evokes all those great feelings we’ve grown to love from Matsson and solidifies his claim as one of the best singer song writers around.

In other TMOE news, we somehow missed posting on his new song “In the Pockets” which is a new jam being packaged with the re-release of Matsson’s debut EP on Gravitation/Dead Oceans (out now BTW).  You can stream that new one via One Thirty BPM.
