Unkle Bob Release Invisible Single + Announce New Album

UK outfit Unkle Bob have returned with a brand new single, and the title track from their forthcoming Invisible LP, which caught my ear immediately. There’s this natural sense of calm that resonates almost immediately; it’s like they’ve built on slow-core tropes and built in a little bit more movement, letting the vocals kind of crest and meander through the dense cavernous sound. At times the song feels heavy and dark, but the synth and circular nature of those cresting vocals continue to bring in the pop sensation that makes this a jam to keep in your rotation as you map out your weekend playlist. We’ll give you more news about the LP as it comes our way.

Soft Pop Jam from Private World

It doesn’t seem like Cardiff’s Private World care much for the modern tropes, though I know folks are going to start labeling this dream pop as soon as you press play. For me, there’s a pure take on the shimmering underground pop of the 80s. For one, you’ve got these vocals kind of slinking about, sort of beckoning the listener to come hither. You can also find the song filled with these little nuances, like the uptick that’s ever so slight around the 2:16 mark…or the guitar shuffle around 1:40. This is a special listen, and one that means Aleph is brimming with promise; it drops on August 28th via Dais Records.

Slow Pop from Mirror Trash

Brunei’s Mirror Trash first popped up on my radar back in April, and every time that he pops out a tune, I get continually captivated. The pacing on this latest tune is so slow, it’s almost like you can hear yourself thinking, talking out your thoughts; the cavernous way in which the vocals were recorded also hint at that same vibe. I always marvel at how the simplest structures seem to embed themselves deep within your soul, and no matter how new-age-y that may sound, this tune definitely seeps into your pores with its carefully crafted pop sensibility.

New Music from Hurt Valley

You ever come across one of those tunes that sort of makes you look out the window and just sort of think back on the whole of your life? Well, if so, then perhaps you’ll understand the nostalgic feelings that flow from this new Hurt Valley track. Something in the song just feels like an eternity that I’d willing live over and over again, like they’ve tapped into my own consciousness; it has something to do with the way the vocals were recorded, part whisper part friendly fireside chat. This new track will appear on Glacial Pace, the new LP out on December 6th via Woodsist.
