Get Groovy With This New Mild High Club Video

Oh man, are you in for a treat. We know it’s hot and we’re in the thick of the dog days of summer down here in the ATX, but I’ve got the perfect track/video that will help you cool off. Mild High Club are a psychedelic slack band that should have your attention immediately. Once you start to listen to the song below and watch the video, you’ll be lulled into a daze of pleasant, laid back, vibes. The guitars trill through tweely, while the vocals are hazy and, well, mild. The chorus employs some jazzy percussion that begs for minimal subtle summer shimmying. All in all, it’s a tune worthy of your ears, so take a listen and get excited for their album with the same as this track, Skiptracing, which will be out August 26th via Stones Throw Records. Preorder it here.

Playful Psych From Mild High Club

mildhighLet’s be real: not too much information is out there about Mild High Club, other than that it is the project of Alexander Brettin, who is currently based out of L.A. This song below, “Windowpane,” is off of his debut 45 and it’s got enough electro-psych to knock your socks off. There’s a Mac Demarco kind of playfulness that comes out of this rad tune, and it makes me excited for what’s to come from Mild High Club and his synth swirling jams. I particularly like the grooving bass line that holds your hand all the way through. Take a listen and enjoy.

Don’t Know What To Think About Crow44

Just listen to this. I know it should trigger fandome from many people that enjoy the likes of Ariel Pink and maybe Mac DeMarco or Tune-Yards whatever quirky genre straddling, tempo changing and melody challenging.

I recoiled on first listen, but there is something oddly charming? So I put it to you. Verdict?

The track is by Crow44. It is called “Love You To Death”. It is on a self-titled EP and you can read more about the project from Desmond Pierce here. Given the title, I figured it would be an appropriate track for pre-Valentine’s playlisting, even if only a love song in name only.

New Single from Jonti (sort of)

Early on Jonti released Sine + Moon on Stones Throw Records featuring the track “Saturday Night Songs,” but he wasn’t quite satisfied with it I suppose.  He went back into the studio with his friend Peanut Butter Wolf and re-recorded it, fleshing out the track with a few more arrangements.  He then retitled the tracks, “Saturday Night.”  I love the way the strumming sounds on this recording, and the backing vocal echoing in the far off distance.; it’s the intimate sort of track that really sinks into your soul, especially when you hear the crackle of the tape.  He’s also done a video for it, which you can find HERE.
