US Highball Share Let’s Save Bobby Orlando’s House

I’ve been a fan of James Hindle and Calvin Halliday since their Pooches days, and their latest US Highball single takes their jangling joyousness and spins it in a little bit more sedate tone. It’s not that the duo lose any of their melodic hooks, rather they just soften the edges, putting them more in line with the likes of Lucksmiths or Boys with the Perpetual Nervousness; I don’t mind that one bit. It’s a classic pop sound, soaked in harmony and sampled beats, whetting the appetite for the release of their forthcoming A Parkhead Cross of the Mind, dropping on March 25th via Lame-O Records.

Stream Posmic’s Sun Hymns EP

Posmic is a relatively new band featuring members of Post Pink and Wildhoney, and their new Sun Hymns EP is officially available for your indulgence as you go on your day. It’s going to be impossible to pigeonhole the group, as each song on this EP seems to branch into varying genres, dabbling in elements of psychedelic pop or touching on fuzzy power pop or linking up with more modern notes. “Whirly King,” for instance, sounds like the band said “Parquet Courts are cool, but what if they made less spastic pop jams with dueling vocal melodies?” Then there are other tunes that feel like the band’s DC area locale bleeds into the tunes, such as on “Mynah Hymn.” And don’t miss out by jamming to a few tunes, as “Black and Blue” is one of the EP’s secret weapons! Sun Hymns is officially out tomorrow via Let’s Pretend Records.

No Suits in Miami Sign with Shelflife

We’re big fans of Swedish hitmakers No Suits in Miami, and it looks like we’re not the only ones out there, as the group just announced they’re signing up with Shelflife to help release their new record. We’ve covered a few of the singles attached below, but when groups you love go big, you’ve got to send out a reminder. The four songs below all offer a tethered dream pop vibe, though I think each one illustrates the diversity the group aim to bring to Nothing Ever Happens; I think I’m definitely backing “Buffy” as one of my favorite tunes on this whole LP. The whole album drops on March 25th, but pressing play below allows you to sample four great pop tunes!

Erasers Release A Breeze + Video

Perth’s Erasers have been captivating me with the work from their new album Constant Connection; today they’ve got a brand new single to share with you, furthering my infatuation. I love how the backbone of this tune seems to revolve around this fuzzy synth pulse buried in the mix; it rises sometimes as other instruments pull out, and other times it just seems to darken the edges of the notes. Rebecca Orchard’s vocal work in the song is heavy and purposeful, almost like some sort of mantra on repeat creating a musical texture almost as much as it’s providing lyrical insight. Ultimately, their work is about patience, immersing yourself in the magical present they’ve created for you. So go ahead, take a moment and just focus on this jam; Constant Connection is out via Fire Talk/Night School on April 22nd.

SXSW Interviews: Fanclubwallet

SXSW has officially begun down here in Austin, though the music doesn’t kick off until next week, so you’ve got a bit of time to go through all our interviews to find some cool artists. One of those, Fanclubwallet, just dropped her recent single “Gr8 Timing,” with an album on the way; she mentions that below. The Chats Drop New Video for Struck by Lightning

Don’t want to delve too far into the soft pop vibes of the day, so this track from the Chats hits just the right punk notes to keep it fun. The band’s got a sort of snotty snarl to them, playing that breakneck punk rock with a bit of call and response to the chorus. Everything here feels anxious and rushed, frantic almost, which ties into the video where they’re dodging lightning strikes inside their practice space. The band have always flirted with a sense of humor and a hard edge, which you might have caught on their High Risk Behaviour LP from 2020. But, this is new, and it rips, so turn it up and blast it out; be on the lookout for their American invasion in April/May!

Stephen’s Shore Share Carefree Tyme

It’s never a bad day when Stephen’s Shore share a single with us, so why not give you the same joy we have listening to the group. The Swedish outfit will be dropping their Green EP in April, and their latest track is the spritely brand of pop you’ve got to have in your pocket to get you through the day. This song just feels like basking in the sun, letting your body warm until its just about red. I love the natural sense of nostalgia in the melody too, as if you’re driving away, waving at your past as you head down the road towards new horizons. Dammit, I just want this on repeat all day long. Green EP drops on April 15th via Meritorio Records.

Me Rex Shares Jupiter Pluvius + Announce New EP

Me Rex has been on everyone’s radar, continuously knocking out pop rock hit after hit…and today they add another to that list. In fact, they’re one of the main acts I’ll be looking to catch as many times as I can at SXSW next week. This new song has a huge feel, hitting quick with the vocals, looking at a more hopeful future, a little bit of joy “when the sun comes back out.” Their songs are infectious and punchy, which is just how I take my rock n’ roll in the mornings. This new tune comes with the announcement of their Plesiosaur EP, out in June via Big Scary Monsters.
