A night that many of us have been looking forward to for quite some time has finally come with the Walkmen show at Stubbs on Friday night.  Opening support for the night will be provided by The Head and The Heart and Austin’s very own up and comers TV Torso.  Making the night even more enticing is a set by friends of ATH Whitman on the inside stage immediately after the Walkmen finish up outside.  More good news is that you’ll get in free to the Whitman show with a wristband from the outside show.  Make a night of it people.

Show Review: Dr. Dog @ Stubbs (11/12)

The rain stayed just east of the downtown, lightning flashing in the cloud line.  Everyone was a little nervous about the weather.  In fact, security joked that the show was cancelled.  Maybe just kidding, but with lightning in the area, I would guess Stubb’s would have to shut down.  Good thing the show went on, it was well worth the price of admission and brief delay.  On to the review after the jump.’

To this local music writer, it seems like Dr. Dog and Here We Go Magic should just move to Austin with how much they love playing here.  Seriously, doesn’t it seem like both these bands were JUST here?  Regardless, you’ve got another chance to catch both of these bands in the live setting at Stubbs on Friday night.  Both are most definitely worth the price of admission.

Those Glasgow boys from Frightened Rabbit are stopping in town at Stubbs this Wednesday evening.  Joining the Scots on stage are solid openers Plants & Animals and Bad Veins.  For only $15, that’s a pretty awesome lineup for a pretty low price.  I say spend the cash and make it out.

Show Preview: The Strokes @ Stubbs (10/6)

Date 10/6/10
Location Stubbs
Doors 7pm
Tickets Sold Out Duh.

So the night has finally come and I’m sure a lot of you have already pissed your pants in anticipation for The Strokes show at Stubbs tonight.  From what I’m hearing, the rock veterans don’t even have an opener so make sure you get there early.  I personally didn’t feel like $60 was worth it on this one since I can see the band at ACL.  Honestly, does anyone ever remember a show at Stubbs that cost this much?  I know I know, C3 had to pay what I’m sure is the ridiculous fee to get the band… but come on!
