Last Week’s Jams (4.15 – 4.19)

Trying to keep pace with ourselves, we covered a ton of ground last week on the site. We got to premiere a psychedelic campfire jam from Mountain Movers, and we might be one of the few US-based sites covering Dr. Sure’s Unusual Practice…which steps in line with that Cola track we also ran. There’s a bit Austin contingent too this week, as Variety, Blushing, Strand of Oaks and Good Looks all honored us with fresh music from their forthcoming releases. We also flirted with a bit of electronic arts too, with new stuff from Martha Rose and Maria Chiara Argiro…just so you don’t think we’re all rock n’ roll over here. Anyways, start your week off here.

Sudakistan Returns with Machine

Swedish rockeres Sudakistan have been out of the scene for a hot minute, but after a five year hiatus, they’re back at it, and as such, they’ve opted to celebrate by releasing a fresh single. You can hear the echoes of a past rooted in psychedelic sounds, fiery guitar licks dancing in the corners as the rhythm provides a bit more immediacy and depth to their new track. You can feel the rawness and live spirit bleeding through too, which makes complete sense as this single accompanies news that the band are back at live performances, with a show schedule for later this month in Stockholm. Track brought to us courtesy of PNKSLM.

No One Sounds Like Sudakistan

As a local taste maker (that’s right I said it) I’m always looking for something new and unique to share with our fans and readers. Today I’ve been impressed with the incredibly unique sounds coming from Swedish by way of South America act Sudakistan. The band creates what they call their very own style of latino punk rock with a very Nordic, almost atmospheric take. Though it may sound a bit odd, I suggest listening to this new track “Two Steps Back” and bask in all its glory. This is surely the first latino-punk Swedish band right?

Sudakistan will release new album Swedish Cobra on September 7th via PNKSLM Recordings.
