Stream Pet Owner’s Natural Behavior

I’ve spent the last few months encouraging you to spend some time with Switzerland’s Pet Owner, and now, you can stream the project’s new album, Natural Behaviour in its entirety. We’ve previously covered tracks “Hi-Res” and “Helping Hand,” but rest assured you can dive into all sorts of vibes; I know I’ve been gravitating towards “Soft Body” on my listens, but the slow build of “Sugar Rush” isn’t a bad route to travel either. Take a little bit of time out of your day right now, kick back and enjoy the craft of Lea Mathis and her Pet Owner project.

Pet Owner Shares Hi-Res Single

Lea Mathis’ Pet Owner project has been on our radar for months now, with an expected album out somewhere at the end of this year, or early next year. Today, I’m really happy to share with you the next single installment, which puts Mathis craft in a world not too far off from the likes of Beach House or Aldous Harding. Interesting, the vocal work on this tune, while special, almost feels like its crafted to build in another texture to the tracks groovy rhythm. I can also hear where Broadcast or Stereolab fanatics might find enjoyment here, particularly in the way the song almost seems like an electronic mediation. More great stuff from the Swiss artist.

Pet Owner Share Helping Hand Single

Listening to the latest single from Swtizerland’s Pet Owner, there’s an awful lot of cool stuff at play, and a lot of it feels right at home in the current indie scene. I mean, the light-hearted strum of the guitar with the breezy vocal floating effortlessly atop the mix really seems like it was made for this moment. That being said, what actually caught me was the little nuances in the distance of the tune; there’s an almost constant bit of fuzz feeding through your speakers, spliced with space age noodles wiggling in through the mixture. Ordinary indie fare this is not, so enjoy a little pushing of the edges.

Luke Lover Readies New LP

Lukas Stadler has been writing and recording songs over the past few years in preparation for the release of his new Luke Lover LP. The project is a mixture between home recordings and work in his band’s practice space, so you’re getting this hyper-intimate songwriting process. But, the song’s resonate beyond the confines of a tape machine or a bedroom, layering moment after moment; you can feel this new single building towards a climactic release, which does indeed come in the song’s last quarter, almost playing upon modern post-punk trends in the vocal delivery. This track’s on the Luke Lover LP, which comes out via Hidden Bay/We Don’t Make It on May 6th.

Another New Silver Firs Tune

The Swiss based outfit known as Silver Firs have been busy this Spring as they prep for the upcoming release of their new EP entitled Lake Hypoxia coming out later this month. About a month ago we heard our first new taste of the EP, and now we are being treated to another teaser with this new single “Allergies”. I truly love the way this band can meld the styles of dream pop with a little bit of psych rock and other moments of 60s pop folk music. It’s certainly a sound all their own and I can’t seem to get enough of it lately.

The EP Lake Hypoxia will be out on June 18th via Oh, Sister Records.

Silver Firs Return!

Our Bern, Switzerland based friends in Silver Firs were really lighting up our pages with stellar music way back in 2013/2014. Since that time, the band was on an lengthy hiatus so it was a bit shocking, and exciting, to hear new music from the band after 7+ years away from the scene. Their first new single after the hiatus, “Now We Start to See the Beauty”, was well worth the long wait and leaves me wanting to immediately hear more. The track starts as a slow burning, melodic tune but eventually builds into this dreamy and lovely pop tune. Can’t wait to hear more!

Silver Firs will release this track on a new EP entitled Lake Hypoxia out on June 18th.

Mesmerizing New Track From Silver Firs

b7206d73-0200-4ec9-a8d9-71935176a766Silver Firs is another band who have received some positive press on this here website once or twice before in the past.  I’ve always enjoyed this sort of earthy, tribal and mesmerizing sounds they seem to create over and over again.  This new song “Icarus” is another one of those tracks that is sure to evoke images of the beautiful Swiss countryside.  You will definitely want to pay attention to this band in the future (if you weren’t already).

This track is available on EP #2 due out August 8th.
