The ATH Team had a busy weekend, so we figured we’d wrap it up in one giant post, rather than inundate you with our opinions about each individual day. We were fortunate to host our own show at 29th Street Ballroom with our friends at Cain’s Hot Sauce, so we got in a solid 18 bands alone on that day!

We’re full on in the mix of things, moderating sessions, planning for our parties on Sunday and Monday, but trying to catch as many acts as we can cram into our lives. Was a super busy day, with all of us stretching across town between panels and house parties, so hit the jump to see photos and thoughts.
Your ATH crew kicked things off for SXSW last night with a slew of official(ish) events around the downtown area and on the east side. It was great to get the band back together for a short night before the madness really begins today and into the weekend. As always, we try to provide the best coverage we can and hit on things in a timely manner. We didn’t see a whole lot last night, but we certainly had some highlights. Well it is here people, and having been in the downtown area early this morning, I can tell you that the festival has started. So get your last minute prep in and come say hey to us this weekend. We’ll likely be kicking things off tonight somewhere on Red River. Before we lock it up for a few days, we have another interview to share, this time from rising Welsh act Hana Lili. Really just a day or so now before we sort of shut this machine down and head out to cover as much SXSW madness as we can. It’s a new year and I know the crew has a few “must see” bands not to miss this time. Cashier is surely one of those bands on our list, and are seeing a huge rise right now with our indie music community. We are super excited to share their interview answers with you. As promised, here is our very first SXSW interview of 2026 featuring an artist we are super pumped about seeing – Grrrl Gang. We won’t provide much information on the band, as they can surely inform you better than we can. They provide some great insight into touring, what is currently bumping in the tour van, and why they chose to come in for the festival. See all of that, plus current dates after the jump.
Hard to believe, but it’s that SXSW time again in just a short 10 or so days. While we hear many grumblings from pals about the changing landscape of the festival, we still plan to be out in full force checking out as many bands as we can. Sure, things will be a touch different this year as we maneuver new dates and downtown construction, but we’re planning to roll with it and provide our usual coverage. In the next few days we’ll be dropping some new show announcements, a few of our interviews, and of course, my annual SXSW artist playlist. This thing takes some time people, and I’ve combed the 700+ bands on the official list, to narrow this down to about 60 or so. Please keep in mind – this is tailored to my tastes, so no shade on any artists not on the list. It’s also highly likely that I just missed something… So here ya go, an Apple version and a damn Spotify one too in case you’re still doing that. Seriously, you can just transfer all your tunes out of there…. Stay tuned.
