Well this week marks the official 3 week countdown to the fun times we all love during SXSW. Hard to believe that things might be “normal” again this year, but it seems like we may be headed towards live shows and events once again! How exciting for everyone in the music community. Once again, we are trying to prepare you as best we can for the week of music with interviews and previews from tons of band playing the festival. Now that SXSW is only a few weeks away, I am honestly feeling all the feels about getting this thing back to “normal” activities and seeing some live music with old friends. Everyone say a little silent prayer now that things will keep trending in the right direction… Phew. What were the hot jams from last week? Well. We have them. We put them on a nice little playlist (you can complain about it later) so you could enjoy revisiting the hits. Well folks, it’s that time of year again here in Austin, TX. Well maybe not just yet, but it’s at least time to start talking about SXSW festival and the slew of bands coming into town next month. I’m sure many of you, like me, are wondering if we will all “be back to normal” or what sort of protocols will still be in place come 4 weeks? None of us truly know so it’s best to push ahead and get some excitement going for our favorite time of year. As we return to normal operations, the ATH crew will of course be prepping you as we usually do with interviews, previews, guides, photos, etc. Today we kick off our official SXSW coverage with our very first interview from Quebec based artist Elephant Stone. Wombo Drop New Single

On the heels of their Keesh Mountain EP, Wombo return with a brand new single…and a tour announcement. I love that the band describes this tune as “the balance between chaos and structure;” it definitely fits with my listening habits. The guitars throughout the song do have that dangerous edge, particularly when the song opens up. But, it’s Sydney Chadwick’s voice that drives the song, letting the guitars and drums work around to create the balancing act while she steadies the ship. Just a really solid tune with these slow burning riffs and smoky vibes that easily sedate you as you kick back and immerse yourself in their latest jam. They’ll be kicking off a nice tour in March of next year that starts at SXSW, then sort of bounces around the middle of the States, so keep an eye out.

SXSW Interview: Suburban Living

Well we all know at this point SXSW is officially over. We are hearing a lot about many unofficial shows proceeding as planned, with our annual Sunday kick off show still a go. Thought the fest is cancelled, it still seems like a fun thing to talk to bands who were originally on the bill to see what life is like on the road. Today I’ve got one last interview for you from Philadelphia based group Suburban Living. It seems like a fitting way to end this series as these are some of the best, and most thoughtful answers so far. Hit the jump for the interview.

SXSW Interview: The Muckers

We’re continually drawing ever near to the SXSW music festival and the ATH crew is very ready for the music and a break from work. It’s fun finding some new bands prior to the festival, and Brooklyn based outfit The Muckers is just one of those bands. They sort of have a White Reaper meets more glam-y T. Rex type of sound.
